Summary/Abstract: The author of the article compares the ways of understanding the term “literary reportage” in Russia and Poland. The article begins with an attempt to describe reportage as a genre in Soviet and Russian literary studies. It follows with the differences in the perception of reportage presented in books and newspapers in Russia. Finally, the author analyses the possibility to transfer the meaning of the phrase “literary reportage” to the Russian literature following the interpretation commonly accepted in Poland. The arguments put forward relate to the works of such authors as Svetlana Alexievich, Valery Panyushkin, Sergey Loiko, Yulia Yuzik and Anna Politkovskaya.
