Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to discuss the way memory functions in literary reportages devoted to the Yugoslav Wars. In my research I am concentrating on four books: Jakbyś kamień jadła [Like Eating a Stone] by Wojciech Tochman, W oblężeniu. Życie pod ostrzałem na sarajewskiej ulicy [Logavina Street. Life and Death in a Sarajevo Neighborhood] by Barbara Demick, Sarajewo. Rany są nadal zbyt głębokie [Sarajevo. The Wounds are Still too Deep] by Hervé Ghesquière and Wojna umarła, niech żyje wojna. Bośniackie rozrachunki [The War is Dead, Long Live the War. Bosnia: the Reckoning] by Ed Vulliamy. The outlined comparative research shows that each of the authors looks at the analyzed issue from a different perspective, taking into account, among others, the context of the country from which he or she comes, as well as the degree of personal involvement in war.
