Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is a comparative reading of several reportages devoted to the so-called migrant/refugee crisis. By choosing the two figures, that is a companion and a witness, as two different types of the relationship between the journalist and his/her protagonists, the author tries to show how the participation in and the further representation of the refugees’ flight are strictly connected with the intervention – an urge to raise awareness of the migrant’s plight and to fight against growing hostile attitudes toward all kinds of Others – as well as how this engagement could lead to some kind of internal conversion on the reporter’s part.
