Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to present the features of a certain image of the world, i.e. the world of legal texts. Their basic function is to create an ideal world of obligations and control the behaviours of recipients. The peculiarity of the legal world is the dominance of the impersonal point of view, which is related, inter alia, to the understanding of the legislator as the creator of legal texts. Statements of directives, i.e. statements that obligate or prohibit directly certain entities to behave in certain circumstances in certain ways are characteristic for the legal world. Another peculiarity is the time that runs in a different way than in the world of everyday experience. This is due to the fact that legal texts design future events, refer to future events. Therefore the statements in which legal norms are coded are formulated in the future tense, and the verbs used in such statements most often perform a directive function.
