Summary/Abstract: The present article analyses the image of a creator depicted in poems and other texts by Julian Tuwim; whose mission was to form and develop human identity and personality; “adding colour to the world”; transforming the mundane reality; the poet considering himself to be an artisan who likens the poetic act of creation to enormous physical effort; the artist of an ambivalent stance which constitutes the essence of his oeuvre; unaware of his own ingenuity; acknowledging the insufficiency of words; solitary in carrying his burden.
