Summary/Abstract: The article presents the advantages of including short films as didactic materials for working with young people in the process of learning Spanish. The presented text explains the appropriateness of introducing short films to lessons; film selection criteria and ways of preparing film material in order to develop specific language competences. Cinema as a means of audiovisual communication plays an important role in shaping the worldview and influences the formulation of opinions and specific social behaviors. The use of short films allows you to enjoy cinema as a form of art while developing a critical attitude towards the content transmitted through this medium; allowing you to learn about culture and pay attention to the non-verbal aspects of communication characteristic of native speakers of the language. Preparing a short film by the students in the foreign language teaching process improves two aspects of learning: linguistic competences and the ability to use information and communication technologies.
