Summary/Abstract: Academic English for Engineers is a task-based specialist English coursebook published in September 2017 by Lodz University of Technology Press. The efficacy and growing popularity of the Task Based Language Learning (TBLL), among other student-oriented teaching methods in the last two decades, stands as a reason for its choice as a guiding framework for the textbook. It has been designed to develop and enhance the language and communication skills required by future scientists and engineers for success at university and beyond, in their future professional environments in which language skills come to the fore in situations characterized by a certain task-oriented structure. The first part of the article discusses the assumptions of TBLL, while the second part presents some examples of tasks from the first chapter of the coursebook.
