Summary/Abstract: The article is concerned with the values existing in presidential inaugural addresses of Lech Kaczyński, Bronisław Komorowski and Andrzej Duda. Having isolated two most important values such as freedom and community I compare the inaugural addresses with one of the rhetorical categories made by Katarzyna Kłosińska, so called ethical and pragmatic discourse. As a result of my work, I show the main characteristics of the two discourses that can be found in the inaugural addresses and the main sorts of rhetorical statements of ethical and pragmatic discourses.
