Summary/Abstract: The author presents an innovative curriculum of doctoral studies that prepare experts in the field of educational research of teaching Polish as a schoolsubject. The article presents the experimental introduction of teaching component to the doctoral studies at the Catholic University of Lublin, allowing students to broaden their knowledge of psychology and pedagogy which is necessary in working with the dysfunctional pupils. Moreover, by focusing students on empirical research of teaching process and the level of pupils knowledge and skills, they are equipped with knowledge in the field of specialized sociological and statistical methods. The success of experimentally conducted doctoral studies in cooperation with the Institute for Educational Research has allowed the author to formulate a series of postulates for the extension of work methods for the third degree of Polish philology academic education.
