Summary/Abstract: Intimacy as a special kind of bond between people is a space for individuals to better understand their own nature and barriers. In safe conditions, partners can experiment both on the physical and emotional level. There are many factors which influence the level of bond between partners. One of them is also a consensual non-monogamy or the phenomenon when partners decide that emotional and/or sexual exclusivity is not crucial for their relationship. The author’s research is based on individual in-depth interviews with people whose relationships belong to a consensual non-monogamous group. The purpose of the article is to outline how this form of relationship affects the understanding of one’s own nature, one’s expectations toward living together and the acceptance of oneself and one’s partner.
