Summary/Abstract: This article discusses an issue of integration of linguistic and literary education. The problem is analyzed in reference to developing students’ cultural competence manifesting itself in text analysis and interpretation. With the use of classical Polish literature (J. Kochanowski) and modern poetry written by W. Szymborska, it is demonstrated how students’ linguistic awareness can be used for textual interpretation.
