Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse the relationship between procreation and marriage, outlining the transformation of perceiving a child as the primary attribute of marriage. The bases for analysis are data and results of the author’s own research. The process of changes in the relation between the institution of marriage and procreation involves three stages: “marriage is parenting”, “destigmatization of non-marital child”, and “voluntary childlessness in marriage”. The author discusses their characteristics and their determinants.
