Summary/Abstract: The topic of the article is language education in high school and university in the context of practical solutions. The author describes methods of teaching creative writing inspired by various literary masterpieces. Janusz Waligóra focused on rhetorical and poetic figures expressing feelings of suffering and regret. In the following paper, diverse examples of funeral speech and Polish and foreign funeral poetry are presented. Cultural material analysed by students during classes became a starting-point for their own literary attempts.
