Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses results of research on language and communicative awareness of immigrants. The results of the analysis show that the psychoemotional condition of the respondents is not good, and legal awareness amongst them is low. The respondents use stereotypes and a lot of taboos, they have different communication fears. The paper presents some recommendations for improving assimilation and integration of foreigners, for example: a) providing language courses for foreigners with information about language rights, b) providing language courses including topics related to Polish culture, as well as the cultures of course attendees, c) providing language courses for foreigners with elements of coaching (a method aimed at increasing students’ motivation to learn and to support their personal development), and language mentoring (training in strategies and methods of foreign language learning and communication).
