Summary/Abstract: In this paper, I will illustrate the important role that translation can play in teaching a foreign language and I will also analyse some of the vocabulary activities that I have carried out with my students, making use of translation. I will demonstrate how these translation assignments have been successful in my endeavour to improve my students’ vocabulary and which the students have also benefited from, taking part enthusiastically in all translation classes.
