Summary/Abstract: The text that is presented constitutes an analysis of the research process from the perspective of one of its phases, the phase of interpretation. Interpretation is construed as the imparting of theoretical meanings to the results of analysis and it constitutes a complementary part of a scholarly explanation. The narration demonstrates the dependencies between the phases of the research process. It indicates not only the correlation of interpretation with the remaining phases but also the interrelationship between all phases. On the one hand, this analysis questions the attempts at embracing a linear approach to the research process in social sciences but on the other hand it demonstrates the extent to which the success of interpretations depends on the decisions that are made before such an interpretation is presented.
