Summary/Abstract: When analyzing statutes of Polish parties, the position of the party leader can be distinguished from other authorities or bodies of the party structure. The leader of the party within the meaning of the formal leader of the party has a real impact on the internal structure of the party. Predominantly, disciplinary procedures, organizational units, staffing and formation of electoral lists are among underlying areas of leader’s influence. Taking into account the scope of leadership competences of the analyzed parties (PiS, PO, .Nowoczesna, PSL), strong leadership party (PiS), moderate leadership parties (PO, .Nowoczesna) and weak leadership party (PSL) can be distinguished. The strength of the leadership is determined mainly by prerogatives of leadership that reflect the degree of vertical impact and influence on the shape of horizontal structures.
