Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the role of modernist life narratives and literary works in the contemporary prose from Serbian Vojvodina. The stereotyped character of their reception and „the end of Vojvodina’s myth”, announced by some critics, are confronted with the rich intertextual developments on Géza Csáth’s (1887–1919) life and work in texts by Ottó Tolnai and Ildikó Lovas. The author claims that citational and palimpsest strategies present in Vojvodina’s culture can be seen as mechanisms proper to how peripheral literatures develop as a patchwork of narrations and research discourses.
