Summary/Abstract: The article raises the question of the post-war space, specifically hotel or sanatorium, which turn out to be a particular character of middle European novels of the 20s of the 20th century. People without a family, country, and sometimes the future, marked by the experience of war, in the hotel could find people like themselves and feel at home. For the analyzed texts are works by Joseph Roth, Vicki Baum and Zofia Nałkowska.
