Summary/Abstract: Applying financial corrections is the most widespread way to sanction violations related to improper spending of EU funds. European and local institutions, including the European Commission, European Court of Auditors and the control authorities of the Member States are the ones who should ensure the legality and regularity of operations, financed from the EU budget. Any irregular or not due cost should be penalized and bound with corrective actions to protect the budget and to comply with the legal framework.
