Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to present the energy policy of Bulgaria in terms of energy security. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between energy dependence, economic stability and energy poverty. One of the goals is to identify factors influencing energy dependence of Bulgaria. The article makes a critical review of the Energy Strategy 2020 of Bulgaria, as well as on the priority axes of the strategy.
