Summary/Abstract: Use of energy derived from renewable energy sources, combined with rational consuming, is considered the best solution to the problems of security of supply, environmental protection and economic development. RES sector is one of the fastest growing sectors of the European economy. Directive 2009/28 on the promotion of renewable energy set the general framework for the development of the sector in the EU, including the European target of increasing the share of renewable energy to 20% of total final energy consumption by 2020. Associations and organizations of producers of energy from conventional and renewable energy sources are equally significant role in shaping the energy policy of Bulgaria and the EU as well as national and European institutions.
