Summary/Abstract: The study attempts to trace the development of tourism in Bulgaria as a priority for the country's economy sector. Based on verified facts, there are offered opportunities for innovations in tourism, which could contribute to economic growth in Bulgaria's membership in the European Union. The study analyzes the current state of the innovation process in the Bulgarian economy, particularly in tourism, as an object of the present study. Outlines are the recommendations and proposals for wider and efficient application of innovative activities, taking into account the experience of the leading countries of the European Union in this field.
