Summary/Abstract: The accession of the Republic of Bulgaria to the European Union (01.01.2007) is emerging as one of the most important dates in our modern history. Our accession to the European Union as a form of regional economic integration has determined the direction of the economic development in our country for six years and will continue to be of leading importance in the future. The country's participation in the massive process of regional economic integration, which has been developing in Europe since the middle of the twentieth century, has a significant impact on the development of the economy as it provides an opportunity to Bulgarian companies to operate in the single market and expand their production capacity, increase their competitiveness, production specialization, free factors movement and rational resource utilization, etc. The purpose of this report is to examine the dimensions (effects) of the regional economic integration of the Republic of Bulgaria in the European Union and to offer an assessment of the strength of the impact /degree of the various effects, and their impact on the economy.
