Summary/Abstract: This paper reviews the support for increasing the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy through the EU’s JEREMIE initiative. Further integration to the single market requires the national micro and medium enterprises to be more competitive and innovative. One of the instruments which are employed to achieve this goal is JEREMIE, a special public-private partnership between the business, the Bulgarian government, the EU structural funds and the local financial institutions. Author reviews the main functional mechanisms and effects on the Bulgarian economy after the implementation of the JEREMIE instrument.
