Summary/Abstract: This articles focuses on presenting what the translation or the translator aims at achieving, by a somewhat diversified practice. It also aims at underlining the interest of translation as a method which contributes - at its level and owing to the interrogations that it generates, the criteria that it uses and the message it transmits or tries to transmit - to a better understanding of languages and of the socio-cultural environment of its speakers.
