Summary/Abstract: The European Union (EU) is a sui generis organization. Its establishment can be traced back to the European Coal and Steel Community. It has many characteristics which make it different than many other international organisations. European integration started in a specific area but day by day, it was deepened and widened. Cooperation spread to many different areas, such as agriculture, trade, economy, environment, education, culture and many more. It started with six member states and today it has 27.
