Summary/Abstract: The article discusses selected popular formats presenting private living spaces. The author examines the described examples focusing on the function that such columns, programmes fulfil both for their characters and audience. Employing Pierre Bourdieu’s class theory in the analysis allows setting the material in the social context and demonstrating that many a time the role of the formats the article is devoted to is to confirm the status or stimulate aspirations.
