Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to seemingly banal and trivial practice of taking care of staircases in Warsaw blocks of flats. Exotic plants on window sills, rows of trinkets on unneeded tables once put out by neighbours is the everyday life of many of us living in Warsaw. This reality is often too kitsch to think about it, however the author examines it and tries to answer the question about its functions and social consequences.
