Summary/Abstract: With Joe Biden having won the U.S. presidential election, the German government hopes to improve relations with the country, which remains its most important non-European partner. The expected change in policy direction will not, however, be in all areas, and the U.S. cross-party consensus on key issues in dispute with Germany will continue to generate tension in bilateral and transatlantic relations.
