Summary/Abstract: A part of data on the operations of some of the public authorities (e.g. public companies) can be determined as a trade secret, which is one of the optional limitations for access to public sector information. On the one hand, public economic operators can also dispose of business information which is legitimate to protect. On the other hand, trade secrecy can be misuse in order to limit the transparency of the mentioned segment of the public sector. The author analyzes the main issues related to the use of trade secrecy of public authorities as the legal ground for the limitation of the right to access information, arising from the Croatian legislature and legal practice.
