Summary/Abstract: The outcome of the French presidential election may be decisive to further European integration. Candidate Emmanuel Macron, who favours further integration of the eurozone and through the European Common Security and Defence Policy, has a great chance to win. His victory also would bring renewal of the Franco-German partnership as the driver of change in the European Union and a shift to the “multi-speed” Union vision. The concepts held by this centrist candidate fit into the mainstream of debate on the future of the EU, which, if he succeeds, would make him one of Europe’s main leaders.
