Summary/Abstract: Since assuming the post of UK prime minister on 24 July, Boris Johnson has been pursuing a high-risk political strategy to reshape the British party system. The key mean is the “do or die” commitment to Brexit on 31 October. Parliament’s adoption of the Letwin-Ben Act on 9 September prohibiting a “no-deal” exit from the EU has put Johnson on the defensive, but his success or failure will only be decided at the ballot box. A snap election, which is most likely to take place in December, will also strongly influence the vision of Britain’s international role.
