Summary/Abstract: Since last autumn, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko has intensified his preparations for the next presidential elections, scheduled for March 2019. With low public support, he cannot count on repeating his 2014 success, when he won in the first round with almost 55% of the votes. His actions, though aimed at improving ratings and putting rivals on the political defensive, negatively affect the reform process in the country.
