Short Description

The Almanac of the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, created in 2009, is the Academy’s annual scientific journal, publishing articles in the field of musicology and the art of music and dance.

This journal is the successor of the Bulgarian State Conservatory Yearbook, having been published from 1960 to 1984. The Almanac founder is Prof. Tomi Karklisiyski, Sc.D. As of 2013 the Editor-in-Chief of the Almanac of the National Academy of Music is Associate Professor Nikolay Gradev, Ph.D.

The authors published are lecturers from NAM and other higher education institutions, both domestic and international, as well as young doctoral and postdoctoral scholars.

Bulgarian music and musicology representatives are an important aspect of this journal’s academic focus. An enclosed section is devoted to them, researching their music and scientifically music related art.

Having in mind the music performance emphasis of NAM, the Almanac devotes special attention to the performance – a topic that is not of such high priority in other national academic journals.

Another specific section of the Almanac deals with music pedagogy and methodology, general and more specialized music education for performers, singers, conductors, composers, music scientists, and sound designers.

The articles published in the Almanac are in Bulgarian, English, German and Russian languages. The journal is open to authors from throughout the world.

The requirements for publishing articles in it can be found on its site: https://almanac.nma.bg.
