Vintilă Horia represented, within the field of right-wing manifestations of the interwar period, a distinct, dynamic and sparkling nationalist line, which was formed in the background of the magazine Gândirea. His journalist activity of the second half of the 4th decade determined the consolidation of a firm and consequent ideological direction on the line of militant nationalism specific for that era. But kept outside the political commitment, since Vintilă Horia didn’t adhere to any political formation, not even as a supporter, the ideological choice of the author of Dumnezeu s-a născut în exil (God was born in exile) turns even more conceptual and spiritual on the basis of a solid belief in the idea of Romanianism and in the assertion of his ethnic and Christian values.

This article includes an inventory of how Romanian doctrine (both current and older) receives the philosophical and legal problem of the state’s justification for the right (and obligation) to use punishment as a means of social control. This interesting topic for academic debate is taken one step further in that it provides a correlation between it and the problem of impunity (and hence the legislature’s option to renounce or to reduce the punishment for a crime). The author's interest was to see which of the major theories formulated upon this topic is presented as a proper environment for the development of the concept of impunity, or for that of reasons of reduced sentence, and which are not. Conclusions reached were that the retributive system (absolute theories regarding jus puniendi) do not represent such an environment, proof being the Latin quotes under which it became known: punitur quia peccatum est; poena est mallum passionis quod infligitur propter mallum actionis; poena est noxae vindicta, all expressions in the spirit of the motto: Fiat justitia, pereat mundus (Fiat justitia, ruat caelum). The utilitarian sistem (relative theories regarding jus puniendi) – punitur non quia peccatum est, sed ne peccetur – would have an intrinsic ability to be developed into a theory of impunity and reduced punishment, but history has shown that it was usually augmented in the direction known as ex parte principis, or, when its valuation was made towards the direction known as ex parte populi, it disproportionately chosen to achieve maximum happiness (protection) for the non-delinquent majority, at the expense of trying to ensure the most minimal intrusion into the sphere of fundamental rights of the offenders minority (intrusion manifested by punishment). Therefore, the eclectic theories (the mixed system regarding jus puniendi) – punitur quia peccatum est et ut ne peccetur – presents themselves as the doctrine in the highest position to allow the development of the concepts of legal causes of impunity or of that of reduced punishment.

This study is an introduction to the works of Liviu Dănceanu, a renowned theoretician and practitioner of Romanian music during the last three decades. Liviu Dănceanu was born in 1954 in Roman, he graduated the National University of Music from Bucharest (1980) in the composition class of Ștefan Niculescu. His work includes more than 150 musical works, 20 volumes of musical philosophy and hermeneutics, numerous articles. As manager and conductor of the Archaeus ensemble, founded in 1985, he has held a rich concert life abroad. He won numerous awards in composition, among which: “Studium de Toulouse Prize”, 1986, The Award of the Romanian Academy, 1989, awards of UCMR, 1988, 1990, 1994, 2001, 2004, 2006, ACIN award (for film music, 1988). His compositions have been ordered by festivals, musical associations or orchestras worldwide. If at first superficial glance, his work is centered mostly on the creation, interpretation and reflection of musicology, its more attentive reception presents the unity of his artistic manifestations, a permanent contemplation of the world, human condition, the philosophy of art and the fate of music.

It is disappointing that Raclavský’s forthright paper (2007) does not (to my mind, at least) advance significantly the discussion of the problem of verisimilitude. What it does is erroneously to identify as erroneous a number of assertions made, or imagined to have been made, in my various critical excursions (from 1974 to 2006) against the various definitions of verisimilitude proposed by the late Pavel Tichý. Although many of Raclavský’s mistakes have been exposed and put right by Taliga (2008), to whom I am greatly indebted, I should like to add something here about three points of disagreement. Sections 2 and 3 deal with what seem to me to be misunderstandings on Raclavský’s part. Section 4 reaches the centre of the dispute between Tichý and myself. In section 5 it will be explained why the positions that Raclavský and I occupy in matters of semantics are closer together than he supposes, so that the bulk of his censure is de trop. The Other is never reduced to the Same, thus remaining unknowable, outside of the totality of the Same. The encounter with the Other calls ecology into question. The „I” can no longer live in the fantasy of a unique possession of the world. The power and freedom of the Same are called into question. The Other cannot be possessed, resists enjoyment, and, as the I encounters this Other, it is called back to the meaning of its freedom, a freedom which is founded by the Other and which, in this encounter, is called to responsibility and obligation towards the Other as genuine freedom.

Human dignity and religious freedom are two God-given blessings for humanity. In this article the author asserts that from theology, especially bibliology, it is evident that God created humanity in His image, and this gives man dignity. God also allowed man to choose responsibly and exercise his freedom. The second argument is that God gave humanity knowledge, and this brings dignity and religious freedom in people’s lives. And thirdly, God designed the Plan of Salvation to restore man’s dignity and give humanity true religious freedom, the freedom to worship the Lord.

People are characterized by rationality, and rationality assumes the ability to think. Thinking has two sides, one informational, which reveals the content of thinking, and another operational, which reveals the functionality of thinking, the fact that it involves the transformation of information in order to acquire new knowledge or to solve problems. It is worth noting that human thinking is not uniform, but it depends on the education received in the family, in school or even through one’s own efforts. Some people think that to think critically means to be grumpy, opportunistic, to reject the ideas of others just for your own ideas to be imposed. Obviously, as human beings, this ability to think is extremely important because human life is much more complex than the life of any other creature, and because of this man needs a system of thinking to help him navigate through the complexity of life, and this help comes from critical thinking, which has precisely this role.

As shown by its symbolic title, the novel "Cincizeci de ani" by Stelian Țurlea, published in 2013, Bucharest, manages to restore the communist daily life very well, without making history, the writer insisting on Dej’s communism. Therefore, Stelian Ţurlea does what he had intended in his previous novel "Trei femei" as he would confess in an interview: "to describe half a century of history through the insignificant actions that man used to bear anywhere in the country, not the great history of the political decisions, but that sand in which I lived – me, my family, their families, your families." The terrible period of communist installation and the 50s and 60s are retold from a female perspective and seen through Elvira’s "eyes". In this way Stelian Ţurlea proves to be a fine connoisseur of female psychology which he greatly highlights in this novel, especially in relation to History. The most common attitude of the heroine in relation to the dictatorship and the other social events is based on reluctance, which actually hides turmoil and indecision that lead to self-alienation. Starting from these premises, the present paper aims to follow the way in which the communist daily life is restored in the novel, and especially to identify the causes of the individual’s reluctance to the political system and social events.

This article is dedicated to the assimilation of folklore elements in trios for violin, cello and piano written by composers from the Republic of Moldova at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries based on a brief analysis of three works: „Oglan" by D. Gagauz (1995), „I.N.O.2" by V. Rotaru (2004) and „Trio for violin, cello and piano” by O. Negruţa (2004). On the basis of the studied musical material, the author reveals the most representative features of folklore origin of the creations concerned: the principles of the monody applied in the correlation of the chamber ensemble parts, the use of the parlando-rubato rhythm, the melismatics, the involvement of the folklore genres features (doina, hora, cântec de lume etc.). It is important to emphasize that besides Moldovan folklore the composers address the folklore of other ethnic groups of the Republic of Moldova as an example serving the use of elements of the Gagauz folklore in „Oglan" or the Bulgarian in „I.N.O.2".

Anul acesta se împlinesc 4 decenii de când instituţia noastra a primit una din cele mai importante donaţii făcute de un colecţionar particular. Mai precis, pe 16 iunie 1971, aflat pe patul de moarte, preotul Vasile Heisu (1911-1971), paroh al bisericii cu hramul „Sfântul Nicolae” din satul Răcăciuni, comuna Răcăciuni, judeţul Bacău, dona Muzeului judeţean Bacău, condus la vremea respectivă de reputatul istoric Iulian Antonescu, o colecţie impresionantă de piese, de diferite categorii, adunată pe parcursul mai multor decenii.

The importance of ethics and the compliance of the university code of ethics represents a fundamental dimension in the student's life, which offers him a new perspective of freedom but at the same time it is obliges him to know and respect this code. Along the education, a fundamental process of human life, ethics has a real role to play in the formation of the student. The code of ethics contains four categories of major standards that will underpin the student's attitudes, beliefs, and ethical behaviors. These elements include: freedom and personal autonomy, honesty and integrity, respect and tolerance and last but not least responsibility. The student, as a result of the social environment will not dissociate from the collective but will become an active part of the socio-cultural, economic, political environment and will take part in the progress and evolution of his community. This paper will address the student's perspective on the main ethical standards and will reveal how to prevent or correct any unethical attitudes, actions or behaviors.The chosen research strategy in this study was a qualitative one, namely the focus group technique was used and as a working tool it was used the interview guide. Ethics influences our way of thinking, our decisions,behaviors and actions in both personal and professional life and the fact that we are part of a global community forces us to contribute to the common good by choosing a lifestyle according to accepted ethical standards.

Christian Values and Religious Freedom

Scholars rightly point out that, „throughout the Western world, the crisis that secularization brings to the traditional religious value system is most often perceived by religious discourse as a cause for concern or as a direct threat.” . It is acknowledged that „moral and religious values (intertwined, incidentally) are completely uncovered in the face of various forms of aggression. „The ‚eclipse of Christian values’ is thus perceived as a danger to the spiritual health of society. In the circumstances of the perpetuation of the attacks to which Christian values are exposed, such attitudes are timely and work to defend these values. Claiming respect for Christian values is absolutely necessary when the idea of reducing Christianity to ‚civil religion’ is being promoted. Religious freedom, as currently understood, is the condition in which individuals or groups are allowed, without restriction, to consent and, within certain limits, to express and act on the basis of their religious beliefs and identity in civil and political life, without coercive interference or sanctions imposed by outsiders, including the state.
