A study by Stanisław Hubert titled “The Partition and Rebirth of the Republic of Poland” (Rozbiory odrodzenie Rzeczypospolitej) appeared in print in 1937 in Lvov. The author, born in Wadowice and a pupil of Ludwik Ehrlich, recalled in his book the concept of application of the ius postliminii principle originating in Roman law, as a basis of the principle of restitution in force in the law of nations (today known as international law) and postulated its application to the interpretation of the issue of rebuilding the Republic of Poland in 1918. The aim of the present essay is a critical analysis of the main propositions and arguments of Hubert’s study. Although it did not resonate very broadly in the mainstream of the science of international law in Poland, some of the themes discussed in it appeared in the propaganda campaigns justifying Poland’s claims relevant to regained independence and also in the assessment of past events, especially the history of Polish lands in the 19th century. The propaganda arguments raised by Hubert can also be discerned in the discourse of other central European countries. The main research problem of the essay is to show that the arguments presented by S. Hubert were largely grounded in historical myths selected in such a way as to appear as indisputable ‘hard’ facts. The basic method of the present study is identification of Hubert’s major propositions and their critical assessment from the perspective of the science of the history of law in the 21st century. Such an approach allows to demonstrate which of his propositions stood the test of time and which can only be deemed as pure propaganda discourse.

The re-modelling of the dominant spatial planning policies into intersectional and horizontal, should lead to a process of sharing public goods and the inclusion of categories of ‘temporariness’ and ‘disassembling’ in the global discourse as inevitable in times of crisis.

In the following article, we explore interconnections between using bicycle sharing systems and the personal approach to ownership as well as to such practices as shared use and borrowing. Based on primary, qualitative research conducted in march 2020 we claim that public bicycles – despite their history rooted in ideas of common use – are perceived as one of many services available within the city. Users see them as useful in a particular situation but do not associate them with shared use or the common good. Therefore we claim that bike-sharing systems – despite optimism – cannot be classified as part of the sharing economy. Based on users opinions they should be classified as part of access based or collaborative consumption.

The article discusses the key text of Mieczysław Porębski (1921–2012), an outstanding Polish art historian and art critic, which is vital for understanding his proposed idea of creating a metacritical language that would allow description of the contemporary art world − Introduction to Metacriticism (first edition around 1966, second – 1983). All Porębski’s publications on this subject are mentioned in the article to obtain a full picture of this concept in the researcher’s writings. The importance of creating it for critical-artistic methods is emphasized. The sources of inspiration for the idea of metacriticism (including bibliographic ones) and the implementation of its assumptions in the text itself are shown, taking into account the approximate mid-twentieth century historical context of methodologies developed on the basis of structuralist reflection, especially the influence of information theory and game theory. The ways in which Porębski came to formulate the assumptions of metacriticism are presented, also through analysis of the language itself. The idea of metacriticism is placed in the wider context of the researcher’s scientific work too, linking it with his proposal to divide the history of art criticism into the so-called criticism of poets and criticism of experts, as well as the idea of the iconosphere postulated by him, which proves to be a pioneering one for contemporary research on visual culture. Finally, the paper suggests that the idea of metacriticism can be the beginning of the present-day style of writing about art.
