The anonymously published text (first published in Albanian in the issue of May 17, 1968 of the journal »Zeri i Popullit«) represents both a key-text and a round-up of the Albanian position towards the Soviet Union and its polics after Enver Hoxha's turn towards China and Maoist positions. The German edition printed in Tirana has been published in ALbania - probably for West-German Maoist-Leftists travelling to Albania in this era.

At the end of 1903, the British traveller and writer Edith Durham (1863-1944) departed for a five-month stay in the Balkans to take part in humanitarian work on behalf of the Macedonian Relief Committee. This journey and the appalling situation in the rebellious region are the focus of her book „The Burden of the Balkans“ (published initially in London in 1905). It also includes an account of her first lengthy expedition, on horseback and on foot, through the wilds of southern and central Albania.With the many dashes of irony and humour, at which Edith Durham was a master, „The Burden of the Balkans“ is a work that can still be savoured by all.

In the description I follow the most natural and historical burglary routes to Scutari and then follow the north-south sequence. // The author has written these travelogues during his mandate as General Consul oft he Habsburg Empire in Sarajevo.

At the end of 1912, the Kingdom of Serbia occupied most of the Albanian-populated territory to the Adriatic coast. The army of Montenegro was present around Shkodër. During the attempt to annex the lands, Serbian and Montenegrin armies committed numerous crimes against the local Albanian population. (Wikipedia). The author, nevertheless, starts his book with the sentence: „The appearance and establishment of the victorious Serb armies on the east coast of the Adriatic worked miracles.“. The author (former Serbian Prime-Minister from 1897 to 1900) makes the attempt to add with this book to the „military establishment“ of the Serbian appearance in the Albanian lands a „political establishment“ oft he Serbian interests in conflict with both the Italian and the Austrian interests in the region.

It is also untrue that forests and swamps are literally teeming with rare game, which European travel hunters, who are immortalized in the picture with their slain lions, could offer a welcome and easy change. So much is untrue that is being spread about this strange country and that is being used in Western ideas. TRUE IS MUCH MORE ... (this, the author is offering in his book)

In his memoirs he tells an Albanian-European biography of the first half of the 20 century, between Vlora, Istanbul, Italy, Bavaria, Austria… always with a patriotic look to his homeland in the Balkans.

After the war he wrote this report, describing mainly the North-ALbanian activities, where his contacts had been much stronger.
