The peculiarities of metro-rhythmic in the marches by Jonas Domarkas

The paper deals with metro-rhythmic traits of marches for the wind band by Lithuanian composer Jonas Domarkas. Apart from the means of expression typical for marches, inventive and original usage of unconventional rhythmic patterns, non-quadruple metric structures, even changing meters can be found in Domarkas’s marches. These elements of metrorhythmic which are not specific to traditional marches allow to put Domarkas’s marches into the specific category of concert marches and to evaluate them as an exceptional phenomenon in Lithuanian tradition and in the context of wind band marches practice in general.

Lithuanian dramaturgy has always played an important role in creating the overall image of the nation; apart from making an impact on theatrical traditions it has been a tool for legitimizing them in our country’s social/public life. In this paper, relying on the statement of anthropologist James Clifford that roots and routes are two essential aspects of each cultures’ symbols, the dynamics of the stability and mobility of the nation in Madagascar and Expulsion, the works of modern Lithuanian playwright Marius Ivaškevičius. National identity, (e)migration and personal identity issues have become increasingly relevant nowadays in the culturally and politically interrelated and global world. The paper also deals with the issues how change is reflected in modern Lithuanian drama, how the ideas of stability and mobility are portrayed and represented in the plays and on the stage.

Tai ištisa tarpusavio santykių skalė – nuo empatijos iki dorovinio pasmerkimo formų. Dominuoja negatyvus požiūris į neregį, jo aklumą, kaip fizinę negalę.

Excavations of recent years the temple complex of the Kruze basilica in the North-east area of Chersonesos allow (based on archaeological and numismatic materials) reasonably argue that its construction took place in the era of Justinian the Great. Schematic layout of the temple (with attached rooms to the east) is even more original than previously imagined.

This article regards a recently found saber from the north-east Black Sea region and introduces a new uncharacteristic type of pommel ending which was previously only known from artefacts from Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. The new discovery allows to extend the area of occurence of such pommel endings and to assume their Byzantine origin.

Medieval cave complex of Iograf Ridge over Yalta

The medieval cave complex over Yalta is located at the height about 1250 m above sea level. It consists of two caves Iograf I and II. In the first of them the temple known on drawings of artists of the end of XIX — beginnings of the XX centuries, in the second cave — "small" once was located, according to local historians, there was "cell" or "chapel", "a place of the ancient settlement".As a result of archeological excavations of 2011 — 2013 in a cave of Iograf I was succeeded to localize the remains of the temple and to investigate the natural niche which is between the southern wall of the temple and east wall of a cave. Here on a rocky surface the drawn images of crosses and an inscription are found, and numerous subjects of personal piety, ornament, a detail of an ethnographic suit, fragments of church utensils and so forth are found in an occupation layer. These materials testify that the niche was especially esteemed place and was used for the votivnykh of gifts. At research of a cave Iograf II jewelry, subjects of personal piety is also found. The cave Christian complex of Iograf Ridge is a unique archaeological monument, a peculiar Christian sanctuary round which the set of legends and legends is collected. It is the Christian cave complex, only from the Crimean Mountains and the Southern Coast of the Crimea, known in the southern part.The analysis of the received materials from caves allows to allocate five stages in the history of a medieval Christian complex, begun in X (XI?) — XIII centuries and proceeding up to now.

In 1967, as a result of plowing the land near the village of Vyisokoe were discovered the ruins of the temple and stele with Greek epitaphs. The last represented the gravestones established in the second half of the XIV century. The fact of their detection convincingly testifies in favor of A.L. Bertier de la Garde’s assumption of existence in the XII—XIV centuries of active communications between inhabitants Kermenchik's district and the Byzantine Сherson.

The article examines the documents of the late 15th — the first third of the 16th centuries about relations between the Crimean khans and the Grand Dukes of Moscow about paying tribute from "Odoyev's cities". These payments were a relic of independent relations of the princes of the Novosil House with the Crimean Khanate, which existed until the end of the 15th century. Later on, when the Novosil-Odoyev principality became a part of the Russian state, the Grand Dukes of Moscow were forced to pay Odoyev’s tribute to the Crimean khans for some time.

This work unlike other compositions of the same genre noted by steady interest in military opposition or peaceful contacts of two countries, allowing to judge estimates of bilateral ties in an environment of the tsar Mikhail Fedorovich and the patriarch Philaret, almost in all relevant articles has a documentary basis or imprinted oral tradition.

In this article author explored one of the most important aspects of the history of the Chernorechie (Chorgun) village, which located on the territory of the city of federal importance of Sevastopol — the medieval period of its existence. The author lead arguments that suggest the existence of this village in the 15th century on the Greek-Gothic Principality of Theodoro. Next successively investigated historical period of the settlement from the 15th century before joining the Crimea to the Russian Empire in 1783, which is poorly represented in the written and archaeological sources.

This publication analyses the question about the contacts between Crimean Karaites and the members of an emperor’s dynasty of Romanovs, and about visits of the members of an emperor’s dynasty in the “cave towns” Chufut-Kaleh in the Nineteenth and Early Twentieth Century. In literature this problem undeservedly misses scholarly attention and has not yet been studied in details. Especially interesting the problem is activity of Karaite’s clergy in the context of the construction of the Karaites’s ethnic and confessional identity. This paper is grounded on the materials from the files in the State Archive of the Republic of the Crimea, as well as the data from collected documents and artifacts of the period.

This work is dedicated to the cult complex at the Western end of the plateau of Eski-Kermen, which was studied by E.V. Weymarn in the course of Eski-Kermen Expedition organized by the State Academy of Material Culture History. The complex consists of the church, the burial crypt and the two caves situated beneath it, as well as the cave, known as the «little cell». The crypt is round-formed and includes three burial places. To the South and upper the crypt there is a church. Its altar part was rock-cut, and the rest was stone-made. The Holy Table was located so close to the synthronon that it did not allow to pass around it during the Divine service. The church had mural paintings inside. Apparently, it was destroyed by fire. In the «hut» with the West leads A rectangular entrance leads into the «little cell». There are benches and «manger» with the «stone rings» along its walls. Three niches were cut in the Eastern wall, and the cross was carved between them. The deep rectangular pit in the floor was aimed for pythos installation.

It's hard to find a more vivid personality on Bosporan throne than Asander. Born a simple citizen, he was not only able to push for the duration of the throne rightful home Mithridatids, but also to impose their will-powerful Rome. The circumstances that led him to the historic arena, did not go unnoticed. On Asander wrote Appian, Dio Cassius, Strabo and pseudo-Lucian. However, they collected information proved to be extremely fragmentary. The fact that the ancient historians, presenting interesting episodes from the life of their Asander not consider it necessary to coincide with their eras existed then. Several informative sites epigraphy. However, they do not contain the desired information. The object of our study were coins of Archon Asander. Assumptions were developed by the method of attribution trim stamped on the obverse of his staters and decryption abbreviations stamped on their reverse. As a result, were able to trace the stages of his struggle for the throne Bosporus. Take out the results of our research on the scientific discussion.

This article is devoted to the find of the Avarian imitation of the emperor Heraclius (611—641) the Byzantine Solid made in the second half of the XX century in the west of Kalinigradsky peninsula (Sambia) in the neighborhood of the settlement of Kotelnikovo (Wargen, Kr. Fischhausen). In article various options of hit of this coin on this territory, both in the early Middle Ages are considered, and at the time of expansion of the German award on lands of pruss the XIII century. It is possible that the find of this coin in the western part of the Sambia in which there were ancient shopping centers connected with amber trade and where the most part of the streams and the rivers flowing into Vistula Lagoon and the Pregolya River, being the main transport communications of ancient inhabitants of local places originates allows to assume that a coin in the VII—VIII centuries. I could get on the peninsula just on these trade ways connecting the population of the Sambia peninsula through the Masuria with other regions of Europe with near and far, and, in particular, with Danube region.

Digital Sheet Music Publishing and Lithuanian Music

The article seeks to review and evaluate the situation of the production of Lithuanian digital music sheets by applying the descriptive, analytical and comparative research methods. The characteristics and particularities of digital music sheets productions are provided in parallel with the main aim for the research.The conclusion is made that the production of Lithuanian digital music sheets is still a marginal area in music production. However, it is rapidly developing and evolving into new forms of dissemination.Lithuanian digital music sheets are published on both Lithuanian and foreign websites.Two types of such publications can be distinguished: publications on the websites of various Lithuanian and foreign institutions (stable visual image, usually a PDF-format) and publications on the websites of specialised music software producers where users have the possibility to adapt music pieces to their needs before acquiring them (variable visual image, usually specific format).
