Christianity regards the future in the sense that the future events will have the vocation of eradicating the evil for good, ending the fight between good and bad and eliminating the source of evil once and for all. In this study1, looking from this Christian perspective regarding the future, a person who embraces the Christian values, no matter the present difficulties, will go further with stoicism and with faith, convinced that future will bring the complete solution to everything. Regarding the knowledge, a Christian considers that during his lifetime he knows the things only partially, but, along with the coming of Jesus Christ, he could reach the full understanding of things, fact which will determine him to move on in life facing any vicissitude with faith, waiting for the accomplishment of all the divine promises.

Tackling the knowledge supposes the study of a phenomenon which has over passed civilizations and in the same time an actual phenomenon, with great perspectives of future development. Because knowledge is a phenomenon with a big complexity, based on the relation of humans with divinity, in this article we will approach knowledge from the perspective of the necessity of recovering the sacred and of the interconnection of human with the divine through the transcendental experience, as a reliable source for the future and development of knowledge. We will briefly analyze globalization, for updating the reference frame and for being able to emphasize the knowledge dynamics in a society which needs, more and more, integration in the harmonious and rational order of the Universe.

When talking about sacredness, in general, and about the sacredness of art, in particular, the problem of morality intervenes from a biblical perspective. This is because whenever we have to do with the artistic sacredness, we have to do with an election through which we switch from worshiping God to something else entirely. Inthe present research we will try to put the scientific–dogmatic basis on the issue of the above. Without claiming to solve the problem, we will emphasize, however, some nuances trying to take into account both the artistic vocation and the artistic intention, both the vocation of the artist and the artist’s intention.

The knowledge of God is often associated to seeing. The soul that sees God knows Him and recognizes Him. Seeing has a special importance as it assures you participation to the Seen one. But, in order to able to see you have to be in the same light as the Seen one, you have to be like Him. During Christ’s Transfiguration on Tabor Mountain, the Apostles recognized Christ’s glory of God “as much as they could” since they were also in the same divine light. The Lord was always covering Himself with light as a garment, but the disciples weren’t “transfigured” after Christ’s likeness, so they could have seen Him. Motovilov could also see the face of Saint Seraphim of Sarov because his face glowed from Holy Spirit’s grace, too. The person who looks at another one inwardly receives some of his attributes.

The present paper presents The biblical reference points of music, The manifestations of Protestant music culture and The excellence in music. The Protestant music started with Luther, Calvin and continued with Bach, Handel, Brahms, asserting itself in Europe, North America, Africa, and recently in Asia. The Protestant culture, especially the musical one, has penetrated all aspects of civilization, being by far, through its representatives, one of the most powerful spiritual dimensions in human history. The future of a better world consists of a more educated and more sensible generation in which music can make people better. The values of theProtestant–Evangelical music can contribute to the human spiritual dimension and to the beauty of its culture and civilization.

Unlike the official ratio between Christianity and Mosaism, where Christianity is considered the offspring of Mosaism, I reconsider this position based on facts and prophecies told in Bible which prove that OT has to be distinguished in two separate realities:the genuine ‘voice of God’ expressed in prophecies and Decalogue, and the religiousness of Jewish people affected by the Egyptian exodus, by time, social context, ego, and nationalism, religious background inherited from Mesopotamia and Egypt, and so forth. The context of Mosaic’s birth created the confusion that all what is written in Old Testament is the will of God, including crimes/violence, and that has led to many denials of the Old Testament, in spite of the strong relation between Old and New Testament. By separating the realities of Christ/Apostles and Prophets from the religion of Israel found in Bible, I hope to prove that, from the beginning, Yahweh separates His prophets from the people of Israel/priests for their stubbornness in listening to Him, with the claim that Mosaism grew apart from Prophetism.

The classical ways of doing theology, the apophatic and the cataphatic will face a new era in what regards human knowledge; the growth and the speed of the latter combined with the social changes that are already under way will pose challenges and perhaps create opportunities for the Christian discourse about God. In this paper, we argue that the knowledge of the future favors an apophatic approach rather than a cataphatic one.

The book analyses Sigismund’s of Luxembourg lien on ecclesiastical goods as an instrument of his financial policy in the Kingdom of Bohemia. At first, it presents available resources and historical literature on the subject. The main part of the book is an analysis of Sigismund’s pledges on ecclesiastical goods in chronological order. This analysis is supplemented by a probe into the proportions of the Chotěšov and Zbraslav monasteries. An important part of the publication is also a catalogue of over 400 pledges and other similar acts and documents important for understanding the mechanism of pledges on ecclesiastical goods.

The study examines the Japanese mountains as places of religious practices. The author looks at both the historical and the present-day religious practices enacted in the mountains and asks how the logic of the market has shaped them. By looking through the historical development of religious practices in the mountainous locality of Tateyama, the first three chapters offer an understanding of the relationship between mountains and notions of the afterlife. The case of Tateyama, a popular pilgrimage site during the Edo period, provides an insight into the pilgrimage place and its mountain cult taking into account the economic aspects in the maintenance of the cult. Drawing on insights gained through field research in the Japanese mountains of Tateyama and Dewa Sanzan, the author explores the present-day re-enactments and sustenance of religious practices and their intersection with the cultural heritage concept. These observations have provided a useful perspective on adjustments between providers of religious practices and participants. Although seen as marginal practices, austerities such as taki gyō and the complexity of qualities associated with them are introduced in the last chapter as examples of the creative sustenance of present-day ascetic practices.

The new translation monograph offers several Czech translations of Latin treatises of Jan Hus. As a continuation of an earlier volume (Master Jan Hus in polemicising and lecturing, 2015) it brings Czech translations of two polemical writings of the Czech reformer as well as other minor treatises that Hus wrote while he was imprisoned in Constance. Two of these were already translated into early modern Czech and the book presents these older translations in a form of readers’ edition. Moreover, the volume contains a critical tract against polyphony in church music (where Hus’s authorship is doubtful) and translations of poems written in Hus’s honour in the 16th century.

Drago Bojić i mr. sci.

The book by anthropologist Lukasz Kaczmarek includes reflections from his multi-site ethnographic research on the transformations of a post-colonial society in a state so vital to understanding the modern world. Jamaican society has come a long way from a numerically dominant servile population of enslaved and disenfranchised people subordinated to colonial rule through to citizens of a country doomed to peripheralization within the global economy. Kaczmarek presents the ethno-historical aspects of the formation of the racist-classist domination of a group of Europeans over the majority shaped by the economic use of people, the exploitation and preservation of their subordinate status and the exploitation of global inequalities. Using Jamaican urban spaces and tourism as an example, he presents the consequences of colonial neglect of the island's social and economic development, and maintaining the majority of its inhabitants in the position of ‘Others’, which has resulted in their rejecting an important part of the "colonial legacy" and their aspirations to create their own identity. The author devotes the final chapters to discussing the practical consequences of the continuation of ethno-racial and class statuses rooted in colonial and nationalist hierarchies, which do not fit the description of societies in the modern world, but are cynically resuscitated and utilized in order to legitimize the exploitation and discrimination of arbitrarily selected groups.

Work is a fundamental human activity and an element that forms our biographies. It has accompanied humans since the dawn of history, and those who performed it accumulated its results and were able to pass on from generation to generation the knowledge of living, functioning in a particular group, and playing selected social roles. Human labour is also a topic of interest not only to economists but also to philosophers, anthropologists, theologians or cultural scientists. The authors' decision to make it a subject of scientific reflections once again is justified by two phenomena occurring in the modern world. The first is the demoralization of work, the loss of dignity, meaning, and the ethos of work, which, combined with its increasing expansion, the pressure to be productive, and the annexation of more areas of human life, leads to an epidemic of work burnout, depression, and a sense of existential emptiness. The second phenomenon is the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic. For some, this was a time of confinement at home, in a remote mode; for others, it meant downsizing, and, in fact, for everyone, being uprooted from a familiar reality and confronted with new challenges. Changes in familiar, working conditions, accustomed and "naturalized", make it possible to look at them with more attention and a critical eye, and to raise new questions about the nature, conditions and meaning of work. The book is yet another result of scientific cooperation between the Edith Stein Research Center and the Department of Social Sciences at Poznań University of Medical Sciences and Poznań University Clinical Hospital within the framework of a project of transdisciplinary reflections on the essential phenomena of human existence and "building bridges" between the humanities and social sciences, and the medical sciences.

The book introduces the situation and development of the Catholic Church in the People’s Republic of China from its foundation in 1949 to the present (2022). It provides both historical context and contemporary information about the Chinese Catholics. It examines the diverse groups of Catholics established in the territory of the People’s Republic of China belonging to both the official state-run Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association and believers in the so-called underground church, which is not sanctioned by the Chinese authorities. The book examines the political and social dilemmas facing the church under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party.
