Winterův román ůistr Kampanus a některé jeho významové souvislosti

The paper is devoted to the historical novel Master Kampanus (publ. in book form in 1909) by the Czech writer and historian Zikmund Winter (1846–1912), and to its comparison with some similar Czech and foreign books, namely, Darkness by Alois Jirásek, Salammbô by Gustave Flaubert, The Egyptian by Mika Waltari and some recent Czech historical novels. Master Kampanus is one of the books of fiction that belong to the debates on the sense of Czech history. It is characterized by a close relation between the protagonist and his milieu, thematization of the conflict between the great and small history, tragicomism, and the rich use of irony.

POETIC TEXTS IN TEACHING OF RUSSIAN ON B1 LEVEL (ON THE EXAMPLE OF WORKING WITH VOCABULARY DENOTING PERCEPTION IN THE POEMS OF O. BŘEZINA AND V. S. SOLOVYOV)

The author of the article aims to introduce Russian poetic texts into the teaching of Czech students on B1 level. The chosen teaching methodology is based on motivating the students with the use of Czech symbolist poetry by O. Březina and a subsequent analysis of a poem by V. S. Solovyov. Work with the poetry of both authors focuses on perceptual lexicon, which plays key role in uncovering the meaning of a symbolist text. Students can thus gain knowledge of polysemous words and their different author’s connotations in an enticing and creative way. This enhances not only their knowledge of the content and language, but also of the aesthetic component related to the main function of an artistic text.

CIGÁNI V DIELACH K. H. MÁCHY A A. S. PUŠKINA

This paper discusses the discrepancy between the image of a rolling stone Gipsy created by such authors as Pushkin and Macha in the first half of the 19th century and the reality. K. H. Mácha’s story takes place the 18th century when the majority of Gipsies have already switched to a settled way of life and began to be forcefully assimilated into the traditional society. In the paper, the emphasis is made on ethical, aesthetic and semantic aspects of the themes of love and desire for death as well as elements of Gipsy culture at the time as opposed to the works of K. H. Mácha and A. S. Pushkin. The focus is on Gipsy stereotypes and image in the Czech and in Russian literature in the 19th century.

Vladislav Vančura ve třech stoletích: život, tvorba a odkaz

Slezský region je v obecném povědomí spjat především s Petrem Bezručem, který se narodil v Opavě, jeho otec Antonín Vašek je však rodákem z Háje ve Slezsku. Zde se také 23. června 1891 narodil Vladislav Vančura: dnes tu má pomník a sídlí zde Spolek Vladislava Vančury, mezi jehož aktivity patří již třicet let pořádání kulturního festivalu nazvaného Rozmarné léto. Vančura ve svém rodišti, kde jeho otec Václav Vojtěch Vančura pracoval jako hospodářský správce cukrovaru, žil jen krátce. Dětství strávil hlavně v Davli u Prahy a v Praze, v níž také vystudoval gymnázium.
