Rodina Lažanských a panství v Chyších od konce 19. století do roku 1947
The manor Chyše, located in Western Bohemia, belonged to the family Lažanský since 1766. At the end of the 19th century, it was held by Prokop III., Leopold I., Alexander and Vladimír. Vladimír is known for his presidency of the Czechoslovak Ethnographic Exhibition of 1895. He inherited Chyše from his brother in 1891. Before becoming famous, the writer Karel Čapek lived in this town as a private teacher for several months in 1917. Vladimír Lažanský also allowed his distant relative Natálie Huynová to reside at his manor. While staying there, she was often visited by her brother Paul Huyn, Archbishop of Prague – despite the fact that Vladimír Lažanský did not like him. After Vladimír’s death, the manor belonged to his son Prokop IV. Lažanský, until the receivership in 1945.
