Počiatky motoristického športu v Bratislave a Košiciach v rokoch 1921 – 1933

The tradition of motor sport in Slovakia is not rooted so deeply as in the Czech lands, or west European states, where it was developed since the turn of 19th and 20th century. This expensive and marginal activity at the beginning started to grow through the organized motoring associations, which were based in Slovakia during the 1920s and 1930s. In Slovakia didn’t exist stable speedway in this period and the races were organized on public roads, what required the cooperation of the districts’ structures and security forces. This kind of races were more attractive and it made them accessible to a wider circle of audience. From the slowly beginnings in the first half of the 1920s a solid base of sports motoring has been formed, subsequently extended its activities range from small club trips to events such as: Competition reliability,„Star-driving“, Speed races or Competition of elegance. This positive trend, however, was temporarily dampened by the impact of the global economic crisis, which also closed the pioneering stage of development of motor sport in Slovakia. This paper aims to capture the character of a relatively dynamic growth of modern sport activity in its pioneering stage in Slovakia.

Mimo ciągłych narzekań na kryzys teorii socjologicznej uznać trzeba, że ma się ona całkiem dobrze. Teoria socjologiczna nie tylko po prostu nadąża za zmieniającym się światem, ale uczestniczy także w zmianach, dostarczając narzędzi do interpretacji i kształtowania procesów społecznych. W książce tej, odnosząc się do tak różnych problemów jak media, terroryzm, kapitał społeczny, mniejszości czy konflikt klasowy, autorzy podejmują dyskusję o teorii socjologicznej w ruchu, zmagającej się z dynamiczną rzeczywistością i biorącej udział w sporach na temat jej kształtu. Stare i nowe koncepcje, które są tu zestawiane, łączone i konfrontowane ze sobą, dają świadectwo temu, że dla socjologów zrozumienie świata jest równie ważne jak jego zmiana.

The term “design”, commonly used today, however ambiguous and multidimensional, cannot be denied cognitive usefulness. Generally understood, design refersto contemporaneity, revealing the dependencies between production, consumption and culture. As a distinguished type of activities and practices, realizing the values of social aesthetic awareness, it is vibrant in today’s world.This book aims at showing the category of design in a broad cultural context, with a focus on the evolution of this notion in the 20th century. An analysis of this phenomenon, rich in multifarious connotations, begins in Europe at the approach of the 20th century, when this discipline, in a way, emerged from the sphere of artistic activity (Bauhaus, De Stijl), and ends in contemporary times. The road leads through issues strictly connected with the development of technology and aesthetics, but exclusively within the aspect of human life and functioning. In fact, design has always been connected with man as a subject (author and recipient) and anobject that the latter has in use. As such, it carries in itself a great wealth of diverse ideologies and socio-cultural values, which it reflects in connection with human life. In this sense, design is also a reflection of a way of this life, particularly in the times of aesthetization of reality.Design, as a close connection between art, technology and life eludes all definitions; it cannot be be unambiguously boiled down to any specific esthetic theories either. Referring to Peter Bürger, it can be assumed that design is art which became so immersed in life practice, that, having lost distance to the latter, it ceased to function stricte as art and became a new area of quest and experiments. Therefore, aesthetics implicite, as seen by Władysław Tatarkiewicz, tranferred into the sphere of design: drawing from the designers’ practices, contained in items/objects/utilitarian products, in critical thought and tastes and fads of a given period, seems to be the most optimal form of an aesthetic analysis of this phenomenon. Such an analysis is a priority of this work, whereas the chronological aspect helps connect design to the (aesthetic) functioning of man starting from from modernist beginnings of the 20th century throughout postwar changes and postmodernist aesthetic relaxing.

Monografia swoim charakterem i zawartością merytoryczną wpisuje się w szeroki i zróżnicowany nurt rozważań w ramach nowej ekonomii, w której wielu badaczy, poszukując potwierdzenia swoich koncepcji, stara się skupić na badaniu zjawisk gospodarczych z perspektywy mikroekonomii. W teorii kosztów transakcyjnych przyjmuje się, że reputacja i zaufanie są elementami, które mogą poprawiać efektywność transakcji poprzez kompensatę asymetrii informacji istniejącej w momencie ich zawierania. Autor analizuje, na ile reputacja i informacja mogą pomóc w minimalizacji kosztów przedsiębiorstw ponoszonych w związku z sytuacjami kryzysowymi. Przedmiotem rozważań są także potencjalne zachowania interesariuszy powstałe pod wpływem zagrożeń. European Aspirations and Human Development of the Republic of Moldova: National Human Development Report 2012

The European integration aspirations of the country cannot be seen outside the current development context. The report examines the main obstacles and opportunities, placing them in a wider context of the political, economic and social transformations the country is going through. Like any social process, European integration cannot have a linear trajectory and is not a one-way street. Th e process must be seen as a multidimensional one. It does not bring benefi ts and advantages alone. In addition to the eff orts of politicians or technocrats, it requires eff orts from the entire society - shifts in mindsets and attitudes by every Moldovan, and obviously an unparalleled communication within and cohesion of the society. Danuta i Daniel Olędzcy. Architektura na miarę możliwości.

The biography of the couple of Tri-city architects, Danuta and Daniel Oledzki presents the image of designers of above-average professional achievements, authors of several buildings which were written down into the records of the history of Polish architecture. Grunwald Housing Estate (Grunwaldzka Dzielnica Mieszkaniowa) in Gdańsk, „falowce” multi-family housing, Wybrzeże Theater or Center of Culture in Kielce are ones of the most significant examples of Polish architecture raised in the times of socialism. Meanwhile, each of the projects includes its own story representing the everyday life in Polish People's Republic. The book dedicated to Danuta and Daniel Oledzki is not only a history of the projects and their execution. Their biographies are representative for the whole generation of architects who were born in the Second Polish Republic and entered adulthood in postwar Poland. They achieved their full potential in the times of Gomułka and Gierek and finally had to struggle the post-communist transformation. The history of Oledzkis and their works appears to be important in terms of preservation of the architecture heritage of PRL. The genesis of specific buildings and its circumstances enables the full, objective evaluation and, therefore, protection of their fundamental values.

The book is an interdisciplinary study in economics and sociology, based on existing materials and own research. The analysis is based on research under the international project: "Social and Cultural Mechanisms of In- and Exclusion: a Comparative Perspective" Life and Work Strategies of the Generation 55 to 65: Their Position on the Labor Market, Obstacles and Wishes”, organized by the University of Ostrava, in which the co-author was a participant. On the basis of the existing materials, the 55+ generation of Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as the factors influencing its professional activity, are characterized. In own research, the status of the respondents on the labor market is discussed. The needs met by the current professional work are analysed. The problems of the respondents' activities outside of work are also discussed.

The article proposes to refine the periodisation of Russian and Russian-speaking immigration in Bulgaria. It examines the necessary context, describing changes in motivations and identity projects of these groups from (relatively) 2013 to 2023. The text outlines the specific tool - the blog, reinvented in a modern context – the text highlights the differences between it within the visual platform Instagram and its classical visual version. Thus, some of the main features of Russian-speaking users’ own online representations are brought to the fore through the implicit and (counterintuitively) explicit discourses of Russian-speaking users. They focus the analysis on their identifications and the specifics of adaptation and its dynamics, maintaining a sense of community but also accumulating social capital that directly reflects their plans and strategies for the present and future.

Имиграцията и „градината като работилница“: българските градинари в Унгария в края на XIX и началото на XX век

The article presents the specific dimensions of the “garden as a workshop” developed by the Bulgarian immigrant gardeners in Hungary at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The importance of various factors (availability of land, water resources and urban markets, etc.) is outlined. These influenced the arrival and settlement of gardeners in the Habsburg Empire, but also – with the new approaches to cultivating the land and placing the produce – testify to a specific process of modernization in theterrain of agriculture. The article highlights the significant role of Bulgarian gardeners in this process, thanks to which they could not only establish themselves and respond to the new social demands, but also laid the foundations for their long-term presence and interaction with Hungarian society.

The article examines, from a historical and contemporary perspective, the processes of valorizing diaspora gardening as local heritage in two significant "gardener villages": Polikraishte and Draganovo (within the municipality of Gorna Oryahovitsa). Based on field studies conducted in Bulgaria and Hungary, the research describes journeys to and from ancestral places, emphasizing their significance and functions in constructing local heritage. The text explores interpretations of diaspora gardening within the settlement's history. In the study, the valorization of gardening as local heritage in Bulgaria is considered a means of establishing connections between the two countries and an integral part of constructing the cultural memory and identity of the Bulgarian community in Hungary.
