The National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius” presented its latest edition “Joakim Gruev and his contribution to the study of Ottoman Turkish language and history during the Renaissance”. The collection includes three textbooks prepared by Joakim Gruev in the period 1864–1872: “Introductory book on the Ottoman language”, “Ottoman grammar” and “History of the Ottoman Empire”.

This article presents the activity of Bulgarian journalist and philatelist Dimitar Nikolov Mintchev (1905–1973). He was also researcher of Romanian-Bulgarian cultural relations in 19 th century and was known as translator and promoter of Bulgarian literature in Romania in the 20 th century. The article reveals a barely known moment of Bulgarian-Romanian scientific relations in 20 th century by publication of two letters by the prominent Romanian historian Paul Păltănea (1924–2013) to Dimitar Mintchev. Researching the past of Romanian town Galats, P. Păltănea needed more information and bibliography concerning history of Bulgarian emigrants in Danubian city in 19 th century. He contacted D. N. Mintchev and both exchanged literature and knowledge to each other.

This publication is dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the poet Elisaveta Bagryana and looks at some highlights of the Bagryana Collection, which is stored in the National Museum of History. It was formed in 1997 as a donation by her son – Lyubomir Shapkarev and is mainly documentary. Its chronological scope is wide – from the end of the nineteenth century (baptismal testimony of E. Bagryana) to one of the last photos of the poetess, dated around 1990 of the twentieth century. The article stops some documents and photos from the youth of the author of “The Eternal and the Holy”, as well as objects related to her personal life.

The book “The anonymous Catalan author and his Historia de Jacob Xalabin (History of Jacob Celebi)” is a valuable study, examining an anonymous Catalan chronicle about Jacob Celebi as an important source for the history of the Balkan Peninsula and the Bulgarians. Vesko Obreshkov and Aksinia Obreshkova have managed to optimally combine the scholarly work of the historian and the philologist in order to present to the audience a complete presentation of this important document for the era.
