RECOGNITION OF THE UNIQUE MICROBIOLOGY OF CHRONIC SINUSITIS AND ANTIMICROBIALSUSCEPTIBILITY IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR SELECTING ANTIMICROBIAL THERAPY. THE AIM OF THISSTUDY WAS TO DETERMINE THE ETIOLOGY AND ANTIBIOTIC SUSCEPTIBILITY OF THE BACTERIACAUSING ACUTE AND CHRONIC SINUSITIS. THE STUDY GROUP INCLUDED 111 BACTERIAL STRAINSISOLATED FROM SINUS PUNCTURE OBTAINED FROM 150 PATIENTS HOSPITALIZED AT COUNTYCLINICAL EMERGENCY HOSPITAL, CRAIOVA, ROMANIA FROM 01.01.2014 TO 01.01.2016. THE ISOLATESWERE IDENTIFIED BY CONVENTIONAL MICROBIOLOGICAL PROCEDURES. ANTIMICROBIALSUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING WAS DETERMINED BY DISK DIFFUSION METHOD ON MUELLER-HINTON AGAR(BIOMERIEUX, USA) FOLLOWING CRITERIA AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CLINICAL AND LABORATORYSTANDARDS INSTITUTE (CLSI, DENVER, USA). THE PREVALENCE OF BACTERIAL AGENTS WAS:PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA STRAINS 24 (13,11%), STAPHYLOCOCCUS STRAINS FOR S.AUREUS AND S.EPIDERMIDIS 26 (14,20%) RESPECTIVELY 47 (25,68%) AND ACINETOBACTER BAUMANNII STRAINS 14(7,65%). OF ALL P. AERUGINOSA CULTURED, 83.33% WERE RESISTANT TO CIPROFLOXACIN AND 97.92%SENSITIVITY TO COLISTIN. OF THE 26 STRAINS OF STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS , 10 (38,46%) WERE MRSA AND 16 (61,54%) MSSA. IN TERMS OF THE SPECTRUM OF SENSITIVITY - THE MOST SENSITIVE DRUG WASLINEZOLID (96.15%) AND RESISTANT 84.62%, TETRACYCLINE. STAPHILOCCOCUS EPIDERMIDIS STRAINS,47 (25,68%) WERE RESISTANT TO TETRACYCLINE (91.49%) AND AN INCREASED SENSITIVITY TOMOXIFLOXACIN (78.72%), VANCOMYCIN (82.97%). FOR ACINETOBACTER STRAINS MOST EFFECTIVEANTIBIOTIC COLISTIN WAS (85.71%) AND INCREASED RESISTANCE TO CIPROFLOXACIN (64.29%). ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE IS INCREASING IN CHRONIC AND ACUTE BACTERIAL SINUSITIS. THEEMERGENCE OF MRSA AND GRAM NEGATIV BACTERIA CAUSING CHRONIC SINUSITIS IS INCREASING.

THE SERONEGATIVE SPONDYLOARTHROPATHIES (SPA) ARE INFLAMMATORY RHEUMATIC DISEASESWITH COMMON CLINICAL FEATURES AND GENETIC SIMILARITIES NOT LIMITED ONLY TO HLA-B27.SEVERAL STUDIES SUGGESTED THAT KILLER CELL IMMUNOLOGLOBULIN-LIKE RECEPTORS (KIR)GENES ARE ONE OF THE NON-MHC GENES ASSOCIATED WITH SPA, ALONG WITH ERAP1 AND IL23R. KIRGENES ENCODE REGULATING RECEPTORS WITH ACTIVATING OR INHIBITORY FUNCTION WHICH AREEXPRESSED BY NATURAL KILLER CELLS (NK) AND SOME OF T LYMPHOCYTES. KIR MOLECULESRECOGNIZE MAJOR HISTOCOMPATIBILITY COMPLEX (MHC) CLASS I MOLECULES, MORE PRECISELY,DISTINCT SUBSETS OF HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C AND HLA-G ALLOTYPES, MODULATING THE REACTIVITY OFTHE NK CELL. AN IMBALANCE BETWEEN ACTIVATING AND INHIBITORY KIR ALLELES KIR3DS1 ANDKIR3DL1 IN THE PRESENCE OF CERTAIN HLA-B27 ALLELES (B*2705) MAY CONTRIBUTE TO ANKYLOSINGSPONDYLITIS (AS) PATHOGENESIS. THE RISK OF PSORIATIC ARTHRITIS (PSA) IS INCREASED IN SUBJECTSWITH ACTIVATING KIR2DS1 AND/OR KIR2DS2 GENES PRESENT.THIS ARTICLE UNDERLINES THE IMPORTANCE OF KIR GENES AND THEIR COMPLEX RELATION WITHTHEIR LIGANDS, ESPECIALLY WITH HLA-B27. THIS UNIQUE ENCOUNTER MAY BE DECISIVE FOR THEIMMUNO-INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE SEEN IN AS/SPA.

Ahmed’s notion of comfort and discomfort between bodies and spaces helps to expand upon the purposes of movement and geography in Percival Everett’s Erasure. The constant rejection the protagonist Monk Ellison faces in public and private spaces, and manifests internally toward himself, requires that his body respond. When we track his geography, we see a man in constant motion who, because of his out-of-place-ness, is forced first to express himself through the creation of a pastiche that mocks prevailing notions of blackness. When this fiction is met with widespread commercial success and critical acclaim, Monk creates of himself and his character an avatar that exists between these two bodies. This avatar, Stagg R. Leigh, embodies the political dissent Ahmed describes as indicative of queer bodies that do not adhere to the behavioral governances of compulsory heterosexual spaces: by establishing himself as passably black according to hegemonic expectations, but then being revealed as a fiction, he upends and threatens social order by escaping its rubrics for functional black bodies. Through this Ahmedian-affective lens, one sees that black bodies in compulsorily racist environments, as queer bodies in compulsorily heteronormative environments, are forced to navigate expectations for their forms by glossing over, ignoring, suppressing, attempting to obscure, or having to acknowledge that which makes them different. A consequence of this interpellation is that society, for both black and queer bodies, rejects their forms and more readily accepts fictitious, derivative bodies in their stead, thus creating new forms to make invisible those stitches in the social skin that identify and alienate the individual from the space surrounding.

The Jazz Singer (1927), a film based on Samson Raphaelson’s short story, “The Day of Atonement,” published in 1922, and inspired by the life of one of the most successful twentieth century Jewish actors, Al Jolson, played an important role in the film industry, as it anticipated the end of the silent film era, and it also managed to offer a closer look at the atmosphere of the Jewish American life, illustrating the main issues that the Jewish American families had to deal with at the beginning of the twentieth century. Later on, three more films were made, and they adapted the original story to the realities of the periods when they were shot, the 1950s, and the 1980s, respectively. The aim of this paper is to highlight the way in which the film industry addressed intergenerational dynamics in Jewish American families during the 1920s and the 1980s, respectively, by comparing and analyzing the original Jazz Singer (1927) and its 1980 remake, with respect to the arising conflict between tradition and ambition, to identity issues, and to the relations established between family members, in conversation with critical sources by Vincent Brook, Joel Rosenberg, and Stephen Whitfield.

This essay reads Charles Chesnutt’s final published novel The Colonel’s Dream as an early work of Afrofuturism because of its speculation of the South as the site of a possible utopia for African Americans. The novel’s protagonist, Colonel Henry French, dreams of creating a capitalist utopia in his hometown of Clarendon, North Carolina, where both white Americans and African Americans who are eugenically fit can rise both socially and economically. However, in the end, the Colonel’s dream fails because he finds that the South has not progressed from the psychological hold that racism has on the mindset of white southerners.

With the adopted by the European Union in 2014 Directives on awarding of public procurement by the so called "classical” and "sectoral” contracting authorities, it was implemented a reform of the community legislation in this field, aiming modernization and simplification of the rules and overall optimization of the awarding process. For Bulgaria, as a Member-State, this caused a number of new engagements, including the necessity of adoption of an entirely new frame Public Procurement Law and of secondary legislation acts, connected with its implementation, as well as gradually introduction of e-procurement. At the same time, in accordance with the assigned objectives in the adopted by the Government strategic documents for the development of this sector in the next few years, on national level other substantial measures took place, including: changes in the existing institutional system, aimed at strengthening of the administrative capacity and optimizing of the work of the state authorities and institutions with powers in the field of methodology, re-viewing and control of public procurement; planning and conducting of trainings for different targeted groups (and mostly the contracting authorities); developing of guidances, methodological guidelines and indications in connection with identified problems during implementation of the legislation in the public procurement field, as well as preparation of the process for development and publishing of standardized requirements and documents, connected with most frequently awarded public procurements; strengthening of the centralized public procurement awarding in the country etc. Because of the fact that through the Public Procurement Law is regulated the movement of substantial part of the public finances, and also of funds, connected with the implementation of specific activities in the field of energy, water supply and transportation, the introduction of the new legislation has a determining importance for the whole economic environment in the country. Given the cumulative amount of the spent in this way funds, the public procurements influence the behavior of individual economic subjects, as well as the development of whole economic sectors, and the implementation of policies, connected with achieving different social, industrial and ecological aims in their awarding, could assist also the ensuring of sustainable development. This defines the exceptional public importance of the issues, concerning the changes in the legal regulation of the relations that arise and are implemented within the procurement process.
