This study, based on the idea assessed by Hannah Arendt in The Human Condition according to which the storytelling is a strategy „for transforming private into public meanings”, and further discussed by Michael Jackson in his book, The Politics of Storytelling, who underlined that the storytelling is also a strategy „for sustaining a sense of agency in the face of dis-empowering circumstances”[ Michael Jackson, The Politics of Storytelling..., p. 34. ], aims at developing even further those two ideas arguing that storytelling is also fashioned by the social, cultural and political context as well as by the „social realms of memory”. Using the findings of a research among women, former political detainees during communism in Romania, this article emphasizes the role of storytelling in helping those women to overcome the trauma of the repression as well as in enhancing their agency while building an identity of anti-communist fighter.

Lucretius II: An Ethics of Motion (2020), written by Thomas Nail, is an alternative book to approach posthumanism from a philosophical aspect. Its focus on motion correlates posthuman thinking with sociological, political, and philosophical dynamics by applying to Lucretius and continental philosophers. Its philosophical frame allows readers to comprehend posthumanism deeply by applying to ethics. The conceptualization of posthumanism, motion, and ethics is grounded in four fundamental methodologies including historical ontology, close reading, translation, and argumentation. Thus, the abstraction of the book is quite inclusive to envision what philosophical posthumanism is by delving into Lucretius’s philosophy.

The article is a culturological and anthropological study of railway modeling in Bulgaria. The history, the social organization, and the cultural practices of the Bulgarian modelists are represented through the prism of their personal narratives and discourses shared in the public space. At the same time, railway modeling is conceptualized as a cultural microcosm with specific artistic “poetics”. In this paper, the motif of wedding in the novel Nečista krv (Impure Blood), by Borisav Stanković is analysed from the viewpoint of erotological theory of George Bataille. The wedding is observed as a celebration resulting in psychoerotic release of the individual. The erotica manifested here has a key role in profiling two different cultures, the urban culture and the rural culture, personified in the Effendi Mita’s and Gazda Marko’s families. By comparing the urban and rural weddings, distinctive erotic features of the two cultures are perceived, as well as differences in character and aim of the celebration.

This paper examines the last two literary works of George Orwell with the aim to analyze his political beliefs. Although these works have remained characterized primarily as critiques of totalitarianism and the Stalinist version of socialism, the pur- pose of this study is to show Orwell’s attitude towards the ideas of socialism in theory with parallel comparison of Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four. Furthermore, in order to consider this problem more comprehensively, it was necessary to research the author’s attitude towards capitalism and liberalism. The article is divided into two main sections. The first section gives a brief overview of Orwell’s political evolution from the second to the fourth decades of 20th century. The second section examines the content of the books which are the subject of research. The article proves that Orwell remained committed to the ideas of democratic socialism in both of his liter- ary works. Portrayal of Orwell as an anti-socialist is unjustified and was formed due to the Cold War context in the West. Additionally, the article concludes that Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984 contain a critique of capitalism and Western imperialism, which is more pronounced in Animal Farm as compared to 1984.

The goal of the analysis is to confirm the hypothesis that the elements of interculturalism and intercultural education influence the development of intercul- tural awareness and the formation of the overall personality of students in schools оf Novi Pazar. In a survey conducted in October of the school year 2020/21. 83 students participated in Novi Pazar primary and secondary schools (43 primary school stu- dents and 40 secondary school students). The research was conducted by surveying students of Novi Pazar schools, in which case the survey consisted of closed and open questions, and examined students’ attitudes about the concept of interculturality and intercultural education, where we by quantitatively-qualitative analysis confirm our initial hypotheses that interculturality and intercultural education affect the cultural awareness of students, their generation of attitudes, which lead to the development of the overall personality of students, their acceptance of cultural differences, anti- discriminatory behavior, tolerance and mutual dialogue.

The presentation addresses issues related to the construction of the socialist canon in the Bulgarian theatre on the basis of certain postulates and ideologemes that provoked the creation of new totalitarian mythologems (Jung, Kerényi). By its very nature, European totalitarianism of the 20th century did not tolerate gods other than those whom it had named itself. Rejecting the centuries-old faith in the Christian god, the system had to elevate its idols. Here the magic that art and artistic image possess was put into reconsideration. Totalitarian culture and art incorporated the powerful tradition of esoteric notions of image in order to create a new religion with new rituals that affect consciousness through the archetypal in a grand spectacle (Debord). In this theatre, the stage incarnations of totalitarian mythologems about the party leader, the positive hero, the youth, the masses, etc. became the main means of forming the type of socio-political thinking necessary for the power.

We consider the process of taming space, turning a profane place into a sacred one, mythologizing, overgrowing with legends and rituals on the example of objects in the southern Urals: Arkaim, the rock complex “Steppe Madonna”, makeyevskaya arbor, the island of Faith, etc. We distinguish three types of “sacralization” of space: political, commercial, and spontaneous. We note the commercial type of sacralization in Arkaim. The spontaneous type includes the sacralization of other listed objects. We note a tendency to hierotopical elements of the cultural landscape. It 45 reflects, first, the desire of modern man to understand the past, a protest against the Erasure of national identity, and secondly-an eclectic picture of the human world, including both elements of traditional religion and pagan components.

The funerary chapel of the Bachkovo monastery stands out among other Byzantine sanctuaries especially for the specific symbolic meaning of its iconographical programme. Conceived in accordance with the liturgical use of the building, its frescoes served as visual support to the celebration of commemorative and funerary services for salvation of the souls of departed monks of the monastery. By introducing a selection of rare representations from the Bachkovo ossuary, I will exemplify the interaction between performed rituals and painted iconography, based on written liturgical sources. Furthermore I will discuss the role of figurative liturgical objects in the definition of sacred space in Byzantine culture.

Stories about the Danube Civilization”, and in line with a number of strategic documents, focuses on the promotion of a Common Policy for Local Strategies that enables the sharing of cultural heritage. The heritage of fisheries communities in the Romania-Bulgaria crossborder area is a multifaceted topic because it focuses on ancient knowledge of nature and contemporary skills. It applies both to the mysteries 260 of a craft that disappears and to the techniques of preserving the river world. The heritage of fishing groups is little known outside their settlements even to researchers. Therefore, it is not known to contemporaries who seldom can take advantage of it to provide new jobs and income through alternative forms of tourism, or do not assume how to protect it effectively and develop sustainably. The Danube fisheries communities are recognized in this study as a specific model of groups, united by a common conception of the value of an element of the past, which is nowadays important for the distinguishable of these groups and their existence, since cultural heritage be in the focus of knowledge. Conservation and socialization activities are increasingly seen as a collective process in which local communities play an important role. Awareness of the value of heritage is a key component in creating a community that reflects on the processes of socialization and demonstrates the effectiveness of interaction between the community and heritage, since the binding elements are not political but cultural. This also demonstrates the ability to implement an integrated approach to managing cultural heritage through trust in the capabilities of communities. This text focuses on the research, observations and analyzes on the heritage of the fisheries communities along the Lower Danube, carried out with the implementation of the project “Memofish – Memory and Future.
