South Africa ten years after the Boer War was still a divided country. The end of the war and the establishment of the Union in 1910 emerged barriers between the political and military elite of the Afrikaners. Mainly this polarisation (ruling party – Afrikaner nationalists) and the social tension culminated in northern part of the former Orange Free State and west Transvaal led to the Maritz Rebellion. Although the governmental troops led by Prime Minister Louis Botha defeated easily the rebels, the political consequences of the Rebellion meant more difficulties for the ruling party than the fight. Present study deals with different aspects of the Maritz Rebellion as well as the way how the contemporary Hungarian public opinion interpreted that conflict.

Zavŕšenie polstoročia vo vydavani Slovenskeho narodopisu je udalosťou, ktora ponukla možnosť rekapitulovať uplynule desaťročia nielen v živote tohto vedeckeho periodika, ale jeho prostrednictvom aj skupiny disciplin, formujucich sa na Slovensku od narodopisu, zastrešujuceho etnografiu a folkloristiku, k dnešnej etnologii, kulturnej a socialnej antropologii. Tieto prostrednictvom Slovenskeho narodopisu prezentovali svoje poznatky, komunikovali s vedcami z inych krajin, disciplin i s verejnosťou. Možnosť spoznať širku tem, ktore boli v uplynulych paťdesiatich rokoch predmetom zaujmu tohto vedneho odboru (bez ohľadu na jeho aktualny nazov), prehľad osobnosti, ktore vstupovali prostrednictvom časopisu do vedeckej komunikacie, i kvantitativny pohľad na ich vedecku produkciu na jeho strankach prinaša tato Bibliografia. Rovnako doležitympodnetom jej vzniku bola potreba vytvoriť komplexnu pomocku, umožňujucu vyhľadavať podľa viacerych kriterii v časopise publikovane texty ako pramene udajov a poznatkov pre ďalšie badanie. Bibliografia nadvazuje na pracu Milady Kubovej Register časopisu Slovenský národopis. Ročníky I – XXV (1953–1977), ktoru publikovala ako prilohu prveho čisla Slovenskeho narodopisu v roku 1978. Ide o tematicky usporiadanu bibliografiu prvych 25 ročnikov časopisu s autorskym registrom. Podnet na vytvorenie bibliografie 50 ročnikov Slovenskeho narodopisu vyšiel približne v roku 2002 od Hany Hloškovej, vtedajšej vedeckej pracovničky Ustavu etnologie SAV, redaktorky Slovenskeho narodopisu a sučasne externej pedagogičky na Univerzite Konštantina Filozofa v Nitre.

Karel Kramář (1860–1937) was one of the most significant politicians of the turn of the 19th and 20th Century and in the first decade of the first Czechoslovak Republic. He was the founder of the Czech Realistic Party with Masaryk and a Czech representative of the Imperial Council in the dualistic Monarchy, one of the most influential politicians of the young Czech party in Vienna. Kramář as the supporter of the Czech Russofil Pan–Slav movement considered useful the Russian and Balkan alliance in the foreign policy of the Austro–Hungarian Monarchy and established the Neo–Slav Movement in 1908 for the harmonization of Slav political inter-ests. During the First World War he participated in the Czechoslovak movement and was sentenced to death for treason, was released by am-nesty. This book aims to explore the Polish literature on genocide. The author attempts to investigate a field which is said to have been under discussed in the Polish literary studies. The book is an attempt to recognise and demarcate a research area which has so far been either practically ignored or perceived fragmentarily by Polish literary studies. Crucial and recognised thematic areas within the 20th and 21st century Polish literature are: the literature of the Holocaust, regarding the extermination of Jews, and also the literature of the Second World War and German occupation, partially related to the issue of Shoah and also to the extermination of the Polish in concentration camps, and during the Katyn massacre and the Warsaw Uprising. There is already a large number of papers and studies that focus on various aspects of these research areas, including certain achievements in the field. On the other hand, however, there is still lack of thought and reflection upon the literature triggered by other acts of genocide and mass murder. No such reflection has been taken up yet, nor have there been any attempts to stipulate whether within the Polish literature there exist any works devoted to massacres other than the annihilation of Jews and the extermination of the Polish, i.e. felonies perpetrated by groups other than the Nazis (Germans) and the Communists (Soviets).This book constitutes an attempt to partially fill this gap. And in terms of the manner in which it relates to literature that reacts to genocide other than the Shoah, it ought to be perceived as a reconnaissance. Such an ‘exploratory’ nature can be attributed to the chapters devoted to literary echoes of the massacre of Armenians by the Turkish, Nazi endeavours to annihilate the mentally and physically handicapped and Gypsies, as well as the Srebrenica massacre committed by the Serbs. On the other hand, the chapters of the book devoted to the literature of the Holocaust ought to be perceived as an attempt to enrich and expand the state of research, and in some cases – as a correction of the existing conclusions.

Пре разматрања једне овакве теме, читалац мора увек имати на уму да не постоји нешто јединствено што би назвали „српска историографија“ и њој насупрот „светска историографија“. Једна – априорно претежно „традиционална“ (често обележена као „националистичка“ или „митоманска“), друга – модерна, баштиник нових метода, избалансирана. По нашем разумевању и искуству постоји низ индивидуалних подухвата на обе стране, али и трендови, вододелнице међу њима које са много скрупула треба идентификовати и обележити. Дебате о традицији и модернизацији на овом простору не воде се само у крилу историјске науке, подједнако су укључени социолози, антрополози, правници, економисти и други. Ако су историчари обзирни према карактеру извора (нажалост не сви) код других дисциплина често мањкају знања из историје општег друштвеног контекста неког времена. Историчари, с друге стране, нису понекад обзирни према социолошким, економским или социопсихолошким категоријама. У више радова упозоравали смо на непознавање, али и олако баратање теоријама и моделима који су развијени на основу потпуно друге историјске емпирије од оне на коју их поједини аутори шаблонски примењују. The author presents a historical approach to the issue of the Polish national revival in the contemporary Vilnius region in the late 1980s and early 1990s, paying particular attention to the efforts aimed at establishing an autonomous Polish-speaking administrative unit within Lithuania. The theme of nationality policy in the countries of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is continually returning in the international public sphere. For political reasons, the events described in the book have historically been controversial and continue to affect bilateral relations between Poland and Lithuania; their origin is therefore well worth learning about.

The text recalls a little-known work by Jules Verne and allows the interaction of Vazov („Under the Yoke“) with Jules Verne („The Danube Boatman“) and back into the genre of adventure novel. The story here is not just a background but also a plotting factor, and the love triangle, police pursuit, and the river‘s pirate lure of the characters push the imagination of the reader and the researcher towards the best traditions of the genre. Namely – to the novel models of Hugo and Duma-Father. Jules Verne‘s interest in our national liberation struggles was designed in the adventure-sensational and emancipated Bulgarian stories in European literature.

In publishing this work, I only wanted to add a stone to the edifice of linguistic knowledge of the Gypsy people, an edifice begun by predecessors, some of which date back several centuries. The linguistic material in this book refers to the "Oursari" and "Ciurari" Gypsies of Wallachia, with the exception of a few words taken from the "Vatrashi" vocabulary. // En publiant le présent travail, je n’ai voulu qu’apporter une pierre à l’édifice de la connaissance linguistique du peuple tsigane, édifice commencé par des prédécesseurs, dont quelques-uns remontent à plusieurs siècles en arrière. Le matériel linguistique de ce livre se réfère aux Tsiganes « Oursari » et « Ciurari » de Valachie, à l’exception de quelques mots tirés du vocabulaire des « Vatrashi ».

The economic crises, political tensions and troubled situations which have afflicted humanity during these last two decades since 1918, would be due, to a large extent, to the layout of these borders considered as artificial, because of them, we would have abolished consolidated units. And the course of these borders would have been made by force and by surprise i by force, because we would have imposed by violence conditions impossible on an adversary without the right of reply or of explanation, and, by surprise, by deceiving good faith of certain statesmen completely ignorant of the real situation in these regions. // As the current border between Hungary and Romania is also disputed with a great deal of passion by this development, which seems to assume that continually repeated assertions end up being accepted as true, by the mere fact of their being uttered, this work is confined to the subject proposed and aims to explain, as far as possible, the real value of these statements.
