COURT PROCEEDINGS AND VERIDICT TO RADOVAN KARADŽIĆ - CHRONOLOGY AND CONFIRMATION OF GENOCIDE IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

This paper brings the chronology of the trial, during which Radovan Karadžić was convicted, as the highest-ranking person in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. He was convicted of genocide in the Srebrenica area in 1995 and for persecution, extermination, murder, deportation, inhumane acts (forcible transfer), terrorism, unlawful attacks on civilians and taking of hostages by participating in four joint criminal enterprises (JCEs). The chronology was made based on official documents of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and completed with the Appeal Judgment Summary by the Appeals Chamber, in the proceedings against Radovan Karadžić. The sentence of life imprisonment imposed on him is a message to everyone that war crimes are not tolerated, and the extensive evidence in this case and the facts contained therein are particularly important for establishing the truth about the events in BiH, and deserve this and many other, different analysis.

CAMPS AND PLACES OF UNLAWFUL IMPRISONMENT OF BOSNIAKS IN THE AREA OF VIŠEGRAD DURING THE AGGRESSION FROM 1992 TO 1995

With a clear, planned and deliberate intention and purpose of committing different forms of crime against humanity and international law, including the crime of genocide against Bosniaks, the aggressor established and organized many concentration camps and places of illegal imprisonment of Bosniak civilians in the area of Višegrad during the period of 1992-1995. There, physical and mental torture, abuse and ill-treatment, as well as the killings of prisoners were committed continuously and daily. In addition to men, women, children and the elderly were taken to the camps, which is a clear proof that the aggressor did not choose whom to capture and place in numerous camps and places of unlawful imprisonment in the area of Višegrad. Dozens and hundreds of Bosniak civilians from Višegrad were captured and imprisoned in the camps, where many were killed or were succumbed to injuries as a result of severe torture and abuse. It was just one of the ways for complete extermination of Bosniaks from the area of Višegrad and to create ethnically clean territories on the Drina River. The scope, scale and characteristics of crimes against Bosniaks from Višegrad, including the imprisonment of civilians in concentration camps, require a detalied elaboration of the treatment of the aggressor against detained civilians, which included constant torture, abuse, as well as the killings. The testimony of survivor inmates is also of great help in confirming these claims.

THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT OF FORGIVENESS BY NORWEGIAN PHILOSOPHER ARNE JOHAN VETLESEN - IS FORGIVENESS MORALLY WRONG - ?

According to Professor Vetlesen, reconciliation in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot come unless perpetrators recognize what they committed and do not show public remorse for what they did. Even then, if it happens, nobody has the right to force a victim to accept apology. Forgiveness and oblivion are not victim’s obligations, Vetlesen is categorical. “I am aware how many denials occur and exactly to silence a victim to talk about what happened can often only aggravate things, disturb the possible reconciliation process. It is understandable that a large number of victims are ready to forget what was happening to them for the future. People are often aware that recalling these suffering can cause new conflicts, unrest in society. To tell victims to be silent is equally dubious, psychologically unbearable to leave it as a liability only to the victim, and not only to the perpetrator, and it cannot help victims,” claims Vetlesen.

THE SITUATION IN THE FIELD OF PUBLIC REPRESENTATION OF REAL ESTATE IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND POSSIBLE DIRCETIONS FOR REFORM

With the entry into force of the new entity laws on land registers in 2003, the process of reform of the Law on Land Registry has begun. The inconsistent legal solutions contained in the new Law of Property Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the Law on Surveying and Cadastre of the Republic of Srpska, undermine the real intent of the legislator expressed during the adoption of the Law on Land Registers. Such solutions are pointed to in the paper, as well as to the most important reform solutions of land registry law, and de lege ferenda suggestions are presented in order to create legal assumptions for a stable and efficient land register. Bearing in mind the legal tradition and the circumstances in which the process of public property registration reform is being implemented, the paper points to the need to implement and improve the resolution of land registry law as the only possible way of the reform in this area.

A CONTEMPORARY DOCUMENT ON ŠAIH HAMZA FROM ORLOVIĆI (BOSNIA)

Authors wrote earlier about Hamza Dede and his tekye, that he erected in 1519 in the village Orlovići, not far from the old castle Kušlat (on the road Vlasenica-Zvornik). Even S. Bašagić touched upon this in his works, and then others also referred to it (M. Karanović, R. Muderizović). Dr Muhamed Hadžijahić particularly dealt with that question. Based on four preserved Ottoman documents on the tekye (berats) and based on some other modest data, Hadžijahić tired to enlighten the formation of the tekye and its significance. He put special effort in the determination of the development and work of the Dervish Order, that is the Order of Hamzevije in Bosnia, that should – according to its name, and based on some other circumstances – originate from that tekye and which due its heretic teaching, and as it seems, also due to active participation of some followers in certain rebels against the Ottoman Empire, in the second half of the 16th century, was severely persecuted.

BOSNIAK-MUSLIM POPULATION OF THE HAJJI ISKENDER QUART IN SREBRENICA IN THE MID-19TH CENTURY

The Skender Quart is one of the oldest urban parts of the City of Srebrenica. Since the medieval period, it nourished urban tradition and represented a developed urban quart throughout the whole Ottoman period. The paper deals in more detail with the characteristics of the Hajji Iskender Quart of the City of Srebrenica in the mid-19th century, or more precisely in 1850/51. There were no translated and source data on the more detailed demographic, genealogical and other ethnological and sociological characteristics of Hajji Iskender Quart in the mid-19th century so far. A detailed overview of the previously unknown and unused data from the official census of the population from 1850/51 is presented in this article. The above census shows us the basic demographic, genealogical and other sociological characteristics of the Hajji Iskender Quart in the mid-19th centuries, such as the total demographic situation, i.e., the total number of men, and detailed data on the male population of all houses in the Quart.

OSNOVI SOCIOLOŠKOG KARAKTERIZIRANJA SOPSTVA I INDIVIDUALNOG IDENTITETA

In this text, I discuss the sociological understanding of the self and its immanent connection with the individual identity. Basic concepts and interpretations are presented which are relating to the attempt to understand the development of the self as a social construction from the perspective of certain classical and contemporary sociological considerations. The central part of the paper focuses on the analysis and problematization of the self and individual identity as the authentic social subjects or participants, as well as on the analysis of their connection with particular political ideologies. In the end, the text shows how the reflection on the self and individual identity cannot be separated from the reflection on identities and dichotomies that may result from it.

PIRANDELLOV IKO, NIKO I STO HILJADA KAO ZAKLJUČAK POETIKE HUMORIZMA

One, No One and One Hundred Thousand is a continuation of The Late Mattia Pascal in the way that it also revolves around the central theme of Pirandello’s vision—crisis of individual identity. The protagonist of the novel, Vitangello Moscarda, accidentally discovers that others have a different vision of him than the one he has created for himself. This strikes him deeply and a true obsession in him is born that uproots his life and makes him commit all kinds of nonsense. He realises that there are numerous ‘Moscardas’, each one being different, that come to life depending on the vision of numerous people around him, especially his wife. In that way, a terror arises in him defying the prison of ‘form’ into which others are forcing him but he also discovers that he is a ‘nobody’ to his own self as well, which further creates a disturbing sensation of absolute solitude. By means of his own insanity he is trying to rebel against the rigid system of social conventions but is defeated. Although he strived to destroy all the imposed forms, he is now to accept and suffer through the one cast upon him by the society, i.e. that of an adulterer, although he is innocent. It is in this very defeat that he finds a way to heal from the agitation that irked him. The original state of mind that he is a ‘nobody’ tormented him and fed in him a sense of grave solitude.

POSTMODERNA (I) OPERA

In this article I discusse about contemporary relation with the opera, its connection with film and present a descriptive analysis of the rock opera Tommy. The Post-Modern age is characterized by the deconstruction of big essentialist narratives, substantial characters, the ideal of reaching the absolute and totality. The momentum of mass culture sucked in and redirected the perception of the opera in the same way as they made art as sort of realization of trash culture in general. The original intention of the opera as a musical drama with a strong emphasis on the Baroque mythical overemphasis, castrate roles and an appeal to artificiality in order to bring it into a relation with the wordly (profane) is nowadays reduced to the possibility to “consume” it quickly, with earphones, as we watch operas on TV. It was a choice between sticking to the traditional application values in theaters defined as elitist and isolated places of entertainment and the one hand and on the other the attempts to appeal to audiences outside these places using modern methods of presentation. Hence ideas for operas (and music) in the open, making films from great operas such as La Boheme or Carmen or foundation of radio and TV companies specializing in such art (Mezzo, Arte etc.).

ODNOS IZMEĐU PERCIPIRANOG RODITELJSKOG PRIHVATNJA U DJETINJSTVU I PERCIPIRANOG PARTNERSKOG PRIHVATANJA U ODRASLOJ DOBI

The aim of this paper was to establish the total and individual contributions of perceived mother and father acceptance-rejection in explaining the variance of perceived intimate partner acceptance-rejection in men and women. The research sample consisted of 225 participants, but from final statistical analysis were excluded participants who did not meet all the necessary criteria. Therefore, the final sample consists of 209 participants (113 female and 96 male). The average age of participants was M=29.30 (SD=6.44) for male and M=27.36 (SD=5.90) for female. The following instruments were applied: Socio-demographic Features Questionnaire, Parental Acceptance-Rejection Questionnaire and Intimate Partner Acceptance Rejection Questionnaire. The results of hierarchical regression analyses indicate that described set of predictor variables account for 14% of total variance of perceived intimate partner acceptance in women and 11% of total variance of perceived intimate partner acceptance in men. It was found that perceived intimate partner acceptance-rejection in both groups was significatly predicted by perceived parental acceptance-rejection of mothers. The obtained results indicate that both men and women who perceive a higher degree of acceptance by mothers also perceive a higher degree of intimate partner acceptance.

SOCIJALNO ISKLJUČIVANJE - PROCESI, MEHANIZMI I KONSEKVENCE (NA PRIMJERU PRISTUPA OBRAZOVANJU I STRUČNOM USAVRŠAVANJU OSOBA SA INVALIDITETOM U BOSNI I HERCEGOVINI)

This article presents an attempt to conceptualize the multidimensional, complex and differently used term of social exclusion from various theoretical frameworks, and then to direct this notion to review the specific position of a particular social group - people with disabilities. The current European process of changing the social approach to the issues of persons with disabilities is clarified, and the role of the social community in the (in)ability of one part of the citizens to participate in it is approximated. Furthermore, the processes and mechanisms of social exclusion are presented through the presentation of empirical research, on the example of access to education and vocational training for entering the labor market for persons with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina; and the objective and subjective factors pointed out that lead to social deprivation that combined together create a hopeless situation in which the excluded population is passivated, thereby relieving the wider community of responsibility for further action.

BAROKNA REALNOST U ROMANU ONA RUŽNA ZBRKA U ULICI MERULANA CARLA EMILIA GADDE

In Gadda’s That Awful Mess on the Via Merulana, there is an essential aspiration for order, for a geometrical symmetry that is to contain a natural reality, whether historical or social. However, the reality has shifted in the process of irreversible degeneration from this sublime model of orderliness and the world has exploded in the labyrinth of chaos where individual entities no longer reflect their ideal forms. They have been deformed as a result of an inner monstrous degeneration, and that is the baroque found in them, as defined by the author. It is as if the novel at one point explodes into an infinite series of digressions that keep multiplying in various directions and make one forget about the main plotline thus making the structure of the novel open, leaving an impression that it could continue like that indefinitely It seems they are reduced to the impure matter that simply evokes disgust. The most prominent features of this novel comprise a vision of the world of chaos and labyrinths dividing the form of the novel and the way the reality is demystified by means of language.. This stems from the author’s stance on the Italian reality after World War One, reigned by newcomers, the ambition for gaining wealth, the power of the ruling, hypocrisy, lies, egocentric exhibitionism, and bad taste. It is evident that the author is striving to, by means of using the 17th century model of realism, create a solid traditional novel which would clearly depict traditional ambience, its characters and their state of mind. However, at one point the novel explodes into an infinite series of digressions which brings to stage a reality of chaos.

POJAM INTERSEKCIONALNOG FEMINIZMA KOD JUDITH BUTLER

This paper is focused on the concept of intersectional feminism in the context of Judith Butler's philosophy. Although this theoretical standpoint promotes an inclusive approach to the questions and issues faced by contemporary feminism, its influence has been diminished by the burden of traditional feminist legacies. The purpose of this paper is to compare the problematics of intersectional feminism and the definition of female identity in its root American political context considering race and Butler's views of the political subject of power concerning gender. The paper also puts forward Butler's critique of the concept of universality, which usually asserts a definition about the breadth of action and the political subject of power, and concludes an area of values that can often endanger one's life.

UTJELOVLJENA KOGNICIJA: OKRUŽENJE JE DIO KOGNITIVNOG SISTEMA

In the last years there have been a significant redefining of the nature of cognition and breaking new ground of our understanding about what is behind the complex processes such as thinking, remembering and attention. The researchers of different theoretical approaches have started to reexamine some fundamental assumptions of the classic cognitivism, which resulted in abandoning of the idea that the mind is an abstract information processor whose connections with the outside world have little significance. There is an increasingly higher number of the researchers who support the embodiment thesis by emphasizing that scientific explanation of cognitive processes cannot exclude human body, brain and experience.

STVARI I NJIHOVO MJESTO U TEORIJAMA

Naš govor o vanjskim stvarima, naše istinsko poimanje stvari, samo je konceptualni aparat koji nam pomaže da predvidimo i kontroliramo okidanje naših čulnih receptora u svjetlu prethodnog okidanja naših čulnih receptora. Okidanje, prvo i posljednje, je sve što moramo nastaviti da činimo. Govoreći o tome, govorim također o vanjskim stvarima, naime o ljudima i njihovim nervnim završecima. Dakle, ono što govorim odnosi se posebno na ono što govorim, i nije zamišljeno kao skeptično. Ne postoji ništa u šta bismo mogli biti sigurniji od vanjskih stvari - nekih od njih, svakako - drugih ljudi, štapova, kamenja. No ostaje činjenica - činjenica sâme znanosti - da je znanost konceptualni most našeg vlastitog stvaranja, koji povezuje čulnu stimulaciju sa čulnom stimulacijom; nema ekstračulne percepcije.
