Summary/Abstract: The article is a discussion of the book by Ewa Fogelzang-Adler, a researcher associated with the Cracow scientific community: “Through joyful glasses". People's Poland in letters to "Przyjaciółka" 1948-1956. Part 1: 1948-1952 (Cracow; Tarnów 2018), dedicated to recreating the image of everyday life shown through the prism of letters sent to the editors of the most popular women's magazine in the country. It also contains references to the direct predecessor of "Przyjaciółka" – the pre-war biweekly "Moja Przyjaciółka" from Żnin and an outline of the history of the presence of sections of correspondence sections for the communication with readers in the Polish women's press.
