International conference ‘The holocaust documentation centre in Moravia’

Summary/Abstract: On 20–23 June 2021 an event took place in Brno that cannot be called a traditional expert meeting but is nevertheless deserving of due attention. Given the circumstances, it is necessary to briefly explain the background against which it took place. The spiritus agens behind the whole event, the Brno publisher and writer Martin Reiner, some time ago took up the idea of founding a museum of Jewish history in Brno, which from the very outset was called the Holocaust Documentation Centre in Moravia (in Czech, ‘Dokumentační centrum holokaustu na Moravě’). The centre’s shift in content and likely name change is something I shall touch upon below. It should be just mentioned here in passing that the conference had to be postponed twice due to the Covid pandemic.
